I saw him walk around the room, the handsomest man in the ball, his eyes glimmered from the distance lights, beautiful like stars, he caught my attention. I grew a sudden confidence, told myself "I should talk to him", so I did. Up off my seat and onto the floor where he was, dancing. He seemed so happy. I waved at him, smiled, and introduced myself, his eyes looked into my mine like he could see my soul, his smile, just as beautiful as his face, also shined. His name was Mike, not a eventful name for such a seemingly eventful guy. We talked and talk, and he took my hand and we danced for hours. When it was time to go home he offered to take me back to his place, I was excited, I thought I was in for something good. His smile cracked through his lips, this time I noticed his oddly sharp canines, but I assumed he was just born with them. We hoped into his car and he drove us to his house, he was excited when we got there. He turned off his car and got out, going to the passenger side, he opened my door and took my hand, he told me "come with me, I'll show you around."
His home was big, beautiful, luxurious... he must have a well paying job. He led us in and he sat me down, he hummed a tune and grabbed us some drinks it seemed. He gave me mine and he drank his. He told me soft reassuring words, he made me feel at home in a house that I've only been in once. Wait? I feel... sick. I think something was in this drink?...."Wake up sleepy head." I heard him, his voice cynical and conniving now. I opened my eyes and tried to get up to realize I was roped down to his bed. I screamed for help but he just screamed loud to make me shut up. He was across the room, unbuttoning his shirt, I feared for what he might do but when his shirt fell to the ground I saw his skin was red, not sunburnt red, he was actually red. Red and scaly. Turned around i couldn't see but I heard a tearing sound, before I knew it the skin he wore to fool me was else where. He was a monster, no longer the beautiful man I feel so quickly in love with, his teeth aligned in rugged rows with little symmetry. He hissed at me, told me how I was such a gullible girl. Falling for a man so fast before you seen any red flags, he laughed at me, and mockingly called himself a actual living red flag. I feared as he got closer, he was close enough to the bed, he sat beside me. I stared at him, tears running down my cheeks, I could hardly breathe, the shuttered breaths made my upper spine ache, i ached harder as I seen him grin at me.
"Don't worry darling, mistakes are made, you aren't one, but you did make one, falling for me, coming back home with me... I bet you regret it now huh?" I tried to speak but he shushed me, "don't worry dear, I'll make your suffering quick, you were my favorite you know? Nobody can dance or sing like you, a real charmer you are. I apologize for ending your road so soon..." I didn't understand, until I felt his hand grab my neck, then I understood. It was too late for me to save my life, I feel the sting in my eyes, the tightness around my neck, the crushing feeling of my chest, I felt it all before I couldn't feel no more, everything went black. I thought I could trust him. I guess not.
