What's better than a summer at the beach? Summer love! And yes, as cliché as it sounds, and as overdone as it is. This was certainly true for Lottie, a native of the US whose mother was from Korea, she got to go there every so often for family vacations, this time, they had gone to her mother's hometown of Daegu, and they were spending it at Gyeongpo beach, where she met him.
The first time they met was when her mom and herself were getting burgers from a burger stand near the area of the beach where the chairs were. He looked so cute in his uniform, his black hair peeking out of his red and white hat.
"Hi! Can we get two doubles?" Her mom asked the boy, who nodded.
"Are those with everything?" He asked you.
"No pickles for me," Lottie said with a smile, the boy winked and gave her a crooked smile. She felt her cheeks heat up at that.
Once they got their food they walked off, although Lottie wanted to go back and keep talking to the boy, he was extremely attractive and funny, at least she could gather that from the short interaction. Her family hung out at the beach for a bit longer before deciding they wanted to get back to their hotel room to rest. Lottie, however, stayed with the excuse of watching the sunset and then doing some star gazing, which wasn't entirely a lie, she was going to do those things, but she hoped that she could do that with the boy from the burger stand.
She ran to the area where the stand was, which she hadn't realized earlier wasn't as close as it seemed. She took a second to catch her breath so that it wouldn't seem like she had run here, the last thing she wanted was to look desperate.
"Hey dolly, if you're looking for some food you are shit outta luck," the boy from earlier said, he was locking the door to the stand, now wearing black shorts with a white wife beater tucked in them, and a button up red striped shirt, now that his black hair was free of the hat, she could see he had an Elephant trunk hairstyle.
"Oh, what a drag," She replied, holding her hands behind her back and rocking back and forth on her heels and toes. He hummed in response and lit up a cigarette, the flame looking brighter since the sunset was about to start. Lottie turned to the sight, and she couldn't help but feel like her old spot had a better view.
The boy turned to look at her, the soft golden light reflecting off her sun-kissed skin, her profile was something to admire, she was definitely a sight out of all the girls he'd seen so far. "The sky looks cool doesn't it" he stated, returning his gaze to the horizon.
"The spot I was at had a better view," She stated, turning to look at him, "do you want to see?"
He smiled lazily, a low chuckle coming out of him, "Sure, why not." She smiled at his answer.
They walked back to the more isolated area where she and her family were, when they got there she climbed up a small rock, and he followed shortly after.
They both sat down when they reached the top, their feet weren't too far from the ground, "So, um..." she started, realizing she had no idea what his name was.
"Yoongi, Min Yoongi, nice to meet you dolly," he introduced himself, stretching his hand out to her, she took it happily, a slight tingling feeling went through her when they held hands. "I'm Charlotte, but everyone calls me Lottie, nice to meet you as well Yoongi." They sat there looking at each other, their hands still together from their greeting.
Gosh, he's such a dreamboat, she thought. Lottie didn't want to seem like a creep though.
"You should take a picture, it will last longer," she giggled, trying to break the stare.
"Too bad I forgot my camera in my room," Yoongi started to slowly get closer.
"Yeah, ain't that a bite," Lottie said, her voice softer as she also got closer to the pale boy.
Yoongi looked back and forth between her eyes and her lips, letting her hand go to take a hold of her chin.
"May I kiss you?" He asked, his thumb caressing her bottom lip. Suddenly words were hard to find, all Lottie managed to do was nod, and so Yoongi kissed her, it was soft and sweet.
