Neytiri gave Genevieve a small shove forward, "Genevieve."

Her hands clasped your shoulder, also pushing you forward, "Y/n."

You resisted the urge to fidget as the group of Na'vi standing in the room stared at you. Unwavering, calculating looks that had you squirm. What were you doing here anyways?

The stares lingered on you for a second longer, before turning back and facing Jake.

"I say we leave them in the forest."

"Yes, that is what I was going to suggest."

"They will be useless to our clan."

"Leaving them in the forest will suffice."

Your eyebrows shot up, immediately you searched for Genevieve, and you noticed she was wearing the same look of shock. You felt a flare of indignation, because these Na'vi didn't even know you, how dare they assume you'll be useless? Plus, the forest was not something you would be able to survive living in, so it was just basically a death sentence. A painful one, as well.

You cocked your head, a fire had lit within you, "y'know, if you're planning to throw us into the forest, I plead that you just kill us now."

You almost regretted saying that out loud. What if you had just paid the one-way ticket to death for you and Genevieve? They paused, the group turning back to face you. Jake had an expression on his face that clearly told you to shut up, but you swiftly ignored him.

Genevieve crossed her arms, nodding along, "yeah, like a clean spear or arrow to the heart is better than getting chased and mauled to death by wild animals."

"Yeah, and eating poisonous berries and then puking until you die."

"Or just dying of thirst and dehydration."

"Gruesome stuff," you muttered.

They stared as if the two of you had grown a second head, and Jake rushed to diffuse the situation.

"I suggest that we leave these two here for a week, and if they prove to be useless, then we'll decide what to do with them. Is that okay with everyone?"

The room erupted into murmurs, but no one immediately rejected the idea. You had the urge to latch onto Genevieve, but held back and clenched your fists as the room slowly quieted down.

"Then," Jake started, "it has been decided. I will make the official announcement soon. In the meantime, we should help these two settle in."

You and Genevieve shared a glance, before nodding and complying. At this point, the both of you were beat, and a week should be long enough to prove that you guys don't deserve to die.

You stepped closer to Genevieve, warily eyeing the Na'vi woman who had come to take you to a resting place.

Genevieve regarded her, and inquired, "is it possible for our resting place to be on ground level?"

"No," there was a sharp smile, "you don't want to be sleeping on the forest floor during the night."
