Chapter 7: Repercussions

Vampires and witches reveled with the obscurity of the forest. No one should be judged on equal footing. After all, no creature resembles the other. Residents can clearly see a battle between the power of goodness and the power of terror. On a moonless night, ravens gathered around ancient dwellings such as Delia's house, and cawed very loudly for several hours. It had a ghostly haunted allure and was hardly visited. She lacks sociability because she does not leave her house much often. The nostalgia of old memories prolonged most of her days. Filled with regret, she embraces the only life she knows by deciding to live it to its fullest.

She recalled: "my mother Adriana is the source of my misery. Ten years ago, she gave me a powerful rose that cannot wither. Thereby, it grants me everlasting youth and beauty. Although the inner self is more important, I am happy with the rose for the benefits it gives me. Adriana wanted me to succeed as a resilient witch qualified to be a force of nature. Just like every magical act, the rose has its weaknesses. My mother warned me that its powers will fade once a gorgeous damsel enters the forest. Some might say that I am blessed with my life, but, I know that I am cursed. My luck is in the toilet. My husband David is disabled, so he sits quietly in his house with a cup of tea in his hand while reading a journal like he always does. Before he was wrenched with an anomaly that forced him to stay at home, he was friendly and trusting with people".

Delia was scared that the truth might unravel so she sat next to him and told him: "You know precisely why you cannot leave the house. Nobody can find out about my affairs with Adam and what happened afterwards to him. We must be meticulous about these details".

Victoria planned on reading a speech that uncovers Delia's evil schemes in a fundraising banquet for the whole community. When she opened the door to leave, she found Clint on her front porch. He saw the memo that she handwrote, and told her in a coercing attitude: "how much does your silence cost? This speech should not be recited in the banquet or else someone you love will be harmed. Consider this conversation as a rational menace so think further of your next steps. I guess you are as gullible as others thought".

Victoria took this as a huge warning sign and backed off from her original plan. She later met with Bruscia met for tea. They were convinced that the supreme witch is drunk on power and false glory. Victoria alleged: "the forest's government can strive to magnificence if only Delia's siege is vacant. Two days ago when I entered her house, I found out that she framed my father for an unforgivable crime and left him to rot in prison. I need you Bruscia to draw the line on Delia's craziness. You are an excellent solicitor".

"Yes, I presume that my profile will fit perfectly for a position as a member of the council. The forest is destined for greatness once the coven gets the leader it deserves", Bruscia replied.

Rosa's mother Dolores visited her for a few days. She spent her time with Delia as her daughter was with Iris. Dolores felt guilty every time she looked at her daughter, so, she professed to Rosa: "I met Delia at a witchery school and we became friends. Once I was very angry with her, I lost my temper, zapped her, and in return, she cursed my children to be frogs. Since then, I decided to use my powers for goodness. I blame myself for the shame I brought on our family. Please, forgive me". Delia was unnecessarily jealous of Dolores. One time, she was sitting with some friends at a table and chatting, Dolores suddenly showed up, and interrupted her by saying: "Excuse me, I believe you are sitting in my seat. Please, find another empty chair." When she heard those words, Delia rudely responded: "oh dear, you must forgive me because I just found a vacant chair at the head of the table and immediately knew that this seat is suitable for me. I think I was gossiping with my friends, and you interrupted me so I lost the trail of my thoughts. I highly doubt that a minor issue like this is as important as what I was saying". By that, Dolores left the room and stayed away from Delia.
