"Can I get you anything?" a muffled female voice asked me in the background. I took my headphones off my ears and looked over to see the flight attendant looking at me with a smile, waiting for my answer.

"Just some water would be great, thanks." I responded since I forgot to buy water at the airport, where it's way cheaper than on the plane.

"There you go. Have a good flight." She says as she hands me a bottle. I thank her and put my headphones back on.

"West coast" by Lana Del Rey continues playing. I close my eyes, desperate to catch some sleep. I probably slept for like three hours at this point, I was very nervous about leaving this morning. But can you blame me? This is a huge change in my life. Just moving to Spain like that, while I don't even fully understand or speak the language. Actually it was not just like that, I thought about it a lot and I've been considering it for months now. My dad is the one who gave me that push that I needed to have the courage to do it.

My dad is Spanish and my mom is British. You don't want to know how many times I had to hear the story of how he moved to England just to be with her. My mother is a Partridge, she's the sister of Louis Partridge's dad. Which makes Louis my cousin. You might know him from the Enola Holmes films. It's so hard to believe that he's "famous" now. I mean 9 million followers on Instagram is not nothing and people keep asking pictures when we hang out. To me he's just my fun cousin and my best friend, but he actually got to work with Millie Bobby Brown. That was insane and I have to admit I was kinda jealous. One day he invited me to set and I got to meet Millie! We also became close and she follows me on Instagram, I still can't believe it to be honest. But I'm so proud of Louis, he's so talented and he deserves it. He was pretty sad about me leaving London since he's one of my best friends, but I promised I would contact him every day.

It's incredibly weird to say, but I'm actually on my way to beautiful Spain right now, on my own. Which is even weirder, since I'm one of those persons who still made my mom describe my sickness to the doctor and stuff. But so far so good, I'm already lucky that I'm on the right plane. My whole family on my father's side still lives in Spain, so I'm not completely alone. But I haven't seen them in years, probably since I was eight. And that was ten years ago now, so I don't really have a close relationship with them at the moment.

Except with my cousin Adriana, we call every night no matter what happens in our lives. I can't wait to see her again in person, she was so happy to hear that I am moving. But I'm also very excited to see my apartment. It's my first time living on my own and that's a big step, especially in a brand new country. My dad was able to get me a place in Adriana's building, so that's great. But my parents thought it was a good idea for me to gain life experience. They thought it would be a good idea for me to master my Spanish culture after all those years in England. Being an adult feels so weird, in my head I'm still a child. But I'm so excited and kinda nervous to start this new chapter in my life.

I was waiting outside at the pick up point, where Adriana was waiting for me. For some reason I felt like I was finally home. The second I stepped out of the airport I felt the most pleasant but chilly Barcelona air hit my skin. It was December, but this weather was already in my favor compared to London. The setting sun, which slowly disappeared on the horizon, mixed with the gentle evening breeze and the rosy sky. It was only 6 pm and we already have to say goodbye to the sun. One of the reasons I prefer summer, but I can totally enjoy the winters charm too, as long as it's not like London when it feels like my fingers are about to fall off from the cold. I slowly inhaled the fresh air and stared around for awhile, to take in the moment, to realize that this is it, my new life that begins now.

My cell phone beeped because of a message I just received. My face immediately lit up when I saw Adriana's name on the screen, saying she's arrived at the parking lot. So I quickly walked there and struggled a bit to drag all my luggage with me. After getting a little lost all my panic disappeared when I saw my sweet cousin standing next to her car. Our eyes finally met and we squealed out of joy as we ran up to each other. She pulled me into a big hug and almost suffocated me by her tight grip.
