1 year later

I was taking a relaxing walk with my little cousin. We found ourselves in the beautiful countryside of England. A week ago we discovered this place, a beautiful open field full of flowers and tall growing plants. There seemed to be no end to the field, because on the other side could only be seen the horizon with a setting sun. The sky was colored with a combination of pink and orange.

I knew too well what day it was today.

It has been exactly one year since the most horrible day of my life. And somehow I finally learned how to live peaceful again. When you're in the moment, you think you'll never heal and everything is messed up for good.

And yes, maybe I'll never completely get over it, get over him.

But I'm starting to pick up the broken pieces and work on myself. I've been enjoying life again after spending the worst months by myself. Crying.

It seems like it was yesterday, but at the same time is feels like a lifetime ago. Just because I've become an entirely different person. I've grown up, especially mentally I have matured a lot. I feel better in my body, better about myself after those months of suffering and questioning everything. Taking the blame on myself by thinking I was never good enough.

"Y/N, look a dandelion!" I heard little Lucas' voice. The 4 year-old somehow always managed to creep a smile on my lips.

He stumbled back to me and proudly presented the white, fluffy flower in his tiny hand.

"It's beautiful." I said honestly, leaning down to get a good look.

"Mhm." he agreed, giving me a nod. "Should I blow it?"

"Of course, that's the rule. You can make a wish, you know?" I told the toddler as I watched his face get even more excited.

"Hm, I have to think." the young brunette brought his finger up to his chin and I laughed.

I stood straight again, giving the boy some space, when I heard footsteps behind me.

"There you guys are. You always dissapear!" I heard a familiar chuckle, recognizing it as Louis'.

"And you always find us, somehow." I giggle while he takes his time to stand next to us.

"Yeah, well, this is your 'not so secret' spot." Louis smiles. "Oh, a dandelion!" he very Britishly continued.

"Yes, and I have a wish!" Lucas eventually spoke up.

"Well, go ahead!" I ordered him before he took a few times to blow all the fluff into the gentle wind.

"So, what was your wish, little buddy?" Louis couldn't help but ask.

"I can't tell you that!" Lucas grinned and ran away again to explore some more. I told him earlier to always stay in sight, so luckily he listened to that.

"Yes, Louis. Otherwise it won't come true." I had to say the famous theory.

"What are you thinking about? You were so quiet today." My cousin asked my with a soft tone.

"I think you know." I raised my eyebrows at him.

"I thought maybe you want to talk about it." he suggested with a shrug, hiding his hands in his pockets.

"I don't know. It's just been an exact year and things are so different now." I spoke as we walked down the path.

"They are different indeed. Perhaps a good difference, no?" Louis wanted confirmation.
