The morning was freezing cold, the wind blowing so heavily that people walking around had trouble getting to their destionations, leaves flying around everywhere, but no rain. I think rain has its charm when you watch it, different story when you're standing under it though. So thank goodness the clouds spared us today, none of our plans had to get canceled. My girls insisted on taking me shopping for a breathtaking dress, it's Thursday which means there's only two days left until the party or as I like to call it, a small welcome gathering. Even though I am sure that's not how club parties work at Barcelona.
The players, colleagues, employees, trainers, coaches, PRs, the whole team is invited. I don't dare calling it small and intimate in that case, but the fact that I am the reason there's going to be a party makes me feel kinda special. In Adriana's head that means I have to arrive looking like 'a flawless queen', her words not mine. The thought of all the attention alone just freaks me out. But it wouldn't hurt to make a good impression, now would it?
I changed into some cute but comfortable clothes and put my hair half-up and half-down. My phone buzzed, letting me know Adriana messaged me, saying she's waiting me up in the car downstairs. I grabbed my keys and purse off the counter and locked the door behind me. As I turned around I saw Aurora's door open and she was taking off aswell.
"Well, goodmorning." I greet her, she flinched at first since she didn't see me yet.
"Oh goodmorning, chica." she replied as she pulled me into her embrace. "Adriana's waiting downstairs." she told me and I nod as we took the stairs down.
"Hola!" Adriana said as we joined her in the car, she was already energized as always.
"Morning!" we respond at the same time. I took place in the passenger seat and Aurora crawled in behind.
"I stopped for some coffee." Adriana told us as she pointed at the cups on the dashboard.
"Oh my god, perfect! I was just about to ask if we could stop at Starbucks." Aurora laughs as I hand her one of the three cups.
I was already out of coffee when Adriana parked the car in the mall's parking lot.
"Alright, girls. Let's go!" she announced and we started walking towards the building.
Fortunately it was not very crowded, which I was already counting on. It's Thursday morning, everyone's at work or at school. But my friends were kind enough to take a free day off of work. Well I didn't really need to push them or anything, they just did and I didn't even need to ask. They said there's nothing they'd rather do than hang out with me and help me out, aren't they the sweetest? But what can I say, I'd choose shopping over work too and I'd be lucky to have an excuse like this. If you look at it that way, I'm the one helping them out.
"I love this store, let's go look!" Adriana said before pulling the both of us with her. And she didn't lie, there were beautiful dresses hanging in the shop. But they were more Adriana style, not subtle enough for me. These dresses scream attention and even though the party is thrown for me it's not my thing. I want a dress that makes me feel confident, but still fits my personality.
After going into two different stores too, we found her! I found the perfect dress, exactly what I was looking for, it was kinda simple but still absolutely stunning and I fell in love with it. I was about to give up, since Adriana bought one in the first store, then Aurora found hers in the second store and now finally I found the perfect one for me. It was a long, tight black dress with a deep slit. I immediately went to the dressing rooms to try it on, praying it would fit.
