Summer in Italy

Jet Lag

We have finally arrived to Verona, Italy.

10 hours on a plane is seriously torture, I need more things to keep me busy. Once the plane lands I get up from my seat and stretch with the little room that I have. I chewed gum for most of the flight so my ears are feeling fine. Can't say otherwise for the students at the back yelling at each other because they can't hear that good.

"Okay guys my voice might sound muffled to you because of your ears but don't worry. You can make your ears better by sneezing or yawning, you can also hold your nose and blow but that could cause damage to your ear drum so be very careful. If you have items in the overhead compartment, then take them out and let's head out of the plane" Mrs. Penny instructs us and we gather our stuff.

Mr. Penny helps out any students who needs assistance. Me and the girls get our stuff and get out of the plane. We head down the tunnel following other students and we get to the waiting area. We see Mrs. Penny making sure who's coming out and doing a head count.

Once we've all gathered together, we all head to the baggage carousel area. I patiently wait for my suitcase to pass by me and eventually I see my beige colored suitcase and get ready to pick it up. I grab the handle but forgot that I packed a ton of clothes in the suitcase and I struggle with picking it up. Suddenly someone helps me.

"Here let me help you out" I look up and see Jason.

"Thank you" I say once the suitcase is now in my possession.

"No problem" He smiles and walks off back to his friends. I find Chloe and Luna and they got their suitcases as well.

"Students we are now going to board a bus that will take us to the hotel, Ai Conti" We follow her towards to exit of the Airport.

Once we're out of the airport we see a charter bus waiting for us. We all put our luggage at the bottom of the bus and board on.

We all talk with one another and talk about the fun things we'll be able to do here.

"What are you looking forward to Ari?" Chloe asks.

"Hmmm" I think for a minute. There are so many beautiful places I want to go to in this town. A place finally pops into my head. "Juliet's House, that's what I'm looking forward to" I answer.

"Oh yeah that's a good place, I'm excited to see everything" Chloe says.

"I'm honestly excited to see the what food they have there" Luna chimes in.

Me and Chloe laugh and continue to talk on the way to the hotel.

"Students we're here at the hotel. Get into your groups of three and I'll give you a room number and key" Mrs. Penny announces and we all get out of the bus.

After getting our stuff, Mrs. Penny and her husband go up to the receptionist and speaks Italian to her. Mrs. Penny studied abroad in Rome and still keeps up with her Italian. Mrs. Penny gets the key cards and reads from her clipboard.

"Okay, Group 1 which is Ariana, Luna, and Chloe, you guys will be room 200. Group 2 which is, Jason, Brandon, and Corey, you gentleman are going to be down the hall from the girls on room 207" She hands us the key cards and passed to other groups.

I look towards Jason's group as Mrs. Penny continues to read out loud names and rooms. We make eye contact and smile at each other.

"We're gonna be near the football players? Lovely" Luna remarks sarcastically.

"Maybe they're not so bad as we think?" I carefully suggest.

"Ariana all they did while we were learning in class was just asking dumb questions and being annoying" Chole argues.
