The sun was just now rising as we all gathered up for the stepping down ceremony. Jake stood in front of some dude I remembered Tsu'tey didn't like for A reason I didn't know, but if he didn't like him- neither did I.
The man held A knife in front of Jake before "killing" him as we would say. Jake stood there, his face clean of any paint as the furs were handed to the man that was chosen to be Olo'teykan.
Jake walked to us who stood in one giant line in front of all of our Ikran with our luggage. He signaled us to hop onto the Ikran's back, so we did. But not without the little wiggle of Bahiyya's discomfort under all of the things I insisted I take with me.
We lifted from the groud, wings flabbing causing dust and dirt to cloud below us as we head towards the vast ocean.
The whole way, it was was all filled with silence with the exception of Tuk's, "are we there yet?" causing Ney'tiri to eternally sigh at her daughters impatientness.
But soon, we came across an island surrounded by beautiful reefs, and rocks. The color of the water changed drastically. It went from A dark navy color to A beautiful glowing teal in A matter of seconds.
A horn rang in our ears, telling everyone of our arrival as we landed. The Ikran we road on, roared loud at the offending people making A giant circle around us.
Tsu'tey held me behind him slightly, seemingly protecting me from the strangers around us.
A few boys walked out from the croud, staring at the kid's tails, arms, legs, judging everything.
I wanted so badly to step up to them, hiss in their faces but they weren't my kids to show up to.
Soon A tall man rose from the water, tattoos littering his light blue face. His eyes trained on my brother in law.
We all bowed our heads as they he walked closer, showing respect to the leader as he did to us.
"Why do you come to us, Jake Sully?" A women followed up from behind him, A glare rested on her face as she studied us. A women who I knew was the Tsahík
"We seek ukturu." It came out desperate, Jake's hope getting the best of him as he motioned towards us. "A sanctuary for my family"
"We are reef people, You're forest people, your skills will mean nothing here." The chief of the clan spoke, his eyes trained on Jake.
"We will learn your ways, right?" He turned to Ney'tiri, before looking towards me and the rest.
I felt A hand grab my tell, causing me to hiss in their direction before realizing just who it was. Tsu'tey kept his eyes trained on the Tsahík, moving me away from her as well as Nakana who shuffled on her feet as she glared at the floor.
"Their arms are thin, their tails are weak." Shewalked around, rudely touching Kiri's tail. "You will be slow in the water."
She decided to grab Kiri's hands, "These children are not even true Na'vi." She held up both of Kiri's hand, putting them on full display for the people around her.
"Yes we are!" Kiri pulled her hands from the women, gasps erupting from the people around us.
It was humiliating, but there was nothing I could do, at least not right now.
She went to Lo'ak, getting in his space as she held up his hand, putting his own fingers on display to further her statement.
"They have demon blood!" She yelled for everyone to hear. People started hissing, wanting us to leave as we did nothing but breathe.
Lo'ak held his head down low with A glare as he let the women hold his hand, disrespecting him in so many ways.
Jake stepped up towards her, putting his hand in her face, "Look, Look!" He pushed his hand further towards the women, finally catching her attention.
"I was born with the sky people, now I am Na'vi. We can adapt. Okay?" He tried reasoning with the women who held her nose way up high.
Ney'tiri walked from behind Jake, slowly, "My husband was Toruk Makto, he led the clans to victory against the sky people." She looked between the woman and her husband, a glare on her face as she made eye contact with the man.
"This you call victory? Hiding amongst strangers?" The Tsahík spoke, A scoff in her voice as she looked between my sister and her husband.
She took a few short steps to my sister, "It seems Eywa has turned her back on you, chosen one." Ney'tiri hissed, her ears pulling back.
I walked ever so slowly towards the two, my arm strectched out signaling for my husband, and child to stay put as I stood directly behind my sister, making sure she'd be okay if things were to go south.
The two women stood there, hissing at each other bringing awkward looks to their husbands face.
"I apologize for my wifes actions-" I tried stopping him, telling him not to apologize for her only for him to continue, "she's come A long way, and shes tired." Ney'tiri hissed at him, displeased by her husband.
The air around us was thick as it went completely silent. The cheif looking between the three of us before speaking, "Toruk Makto is a great war leader-" The cheif tried calming down the mood, "All Na'vi people know his name, but we 'kayina people are not at war." He turned to us, "We cannot let you bring your war here."
"We're not at war." I blinked, what was this man doing?
"Please, I just want to keep my family safe." He hugged Tuk to his shoulder who was now in his arms.
The man took a deep breathe, making eye contact with his wife before turning to his people, "Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us, treat them as our brothers and sisters." He made sure his voice was heard to the people who stared.
"They do not know the sea, so they will be like babies taking their first breath" I could tell that Ney'tiri didn't like the terms he used considering I noticed the way she bit her tongue.
"Teach them our ways so they do not suffer the shame of being useless." He turned to me when be said that causing me to double back with the stank face Lo'ak always used when Jake turned his back.
"What do we say?" He turned to us. Only Tsu'tey and I didn't say thank you.
"My son Aonung, and Daughter Tsireya will teach you the Metkayina way." Aonung stepped fourth, disagreeing only to get A palm in front of his face, dismissing him. "It is final."
The chief soon left as did the people, leaving Us and Aonung, and Tsireya together.
The girl stepped fourth, motioning us to follow, "Come."
