"Jagiya, I missed you!"

Eunji hugged Taehyung. Taehyung took two seconds to process the happenings. Taehyung froze for a moment, his arms hovering awkwardly in midair as he tried to process what was happening. Eunji was hugging him. Shin Eunji, the girl who had rejected his proposal just hours ago, was now clinging to him like a long-lost friend.

Slowly, hesitantly, he brought his arms down to encircle her waist, returning the embrace with a stiff, formal pat on the back. "I missed you too," he mumbled, his voice muffled against her shoulder.

So she agreed.

Taehyung couldn't help but realize how tiny Eunji was. Her face only just touched Taehyung's chin. When she looked up at him, she was smiling. This was the first time she ever smiled at Taehyung.

From the corner of his eyes, Taehyung could see everyone taking pictures and watching them. He knew that, now, his parents would get to know about his 'secret' girlfriend.

"Here is a copy of the contract. The original stays with me.", Taehyung said, passing a sheet of paper.

"You know we really don't need to do this.", Eunji said.

"Keeping a written record of an agreement is always a good choice. Besides, I do not trust you."

Eunji rolled her eyes.

Eunji stared down at the contract, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe what she was considering. Agreeing to be Taehyung's fake girlfriend, just to make Minhyuk jealous? It was crazy. Insane. Well, screw that. She wasn't going to let him get away with it. She was going to make him pay, one way or another. And if pretending to be Taehyung's girlfriend was the way to do it, then so be it.

"I'll read out the clauses. Tell me if you have any objection.

1. The parties involved agree to maintain a public façade of romantic involvement for a period of 4 months, beginning on the date of signing.

2. The female party agrees to attend all social functions and events with the male party, presenting herself as his devoted girlfriend.

3. Both the parties must know each other's objectives to carry out the act.

4. There should not be any physical touch between the-"

"Objection.", Eunji said. Taehyung looked at her.

"I don't think I can eliminate the requirement of physical touch.", she said in a quiet voice avoiding eye contact. Taehyung eyed her suspiciously.

"I think we should know each others necessities first. As for me, my parents are forcing me to date their business partner's daughter. So, I told them I have a girlfriend."

"Um... I kind of got dumped by my boyfriend for some other girl..."

"The one whom you said you wouldn't give up for a million dollars?"

"Shut up. Besides if we're going to convince anyone that we're a real couple, we need to act like one. That means holding hands, maybe even kissing on occasion. Anything less, and people will know it's all a lie."

Taehyung nodded.

"I'll continue.

4. Physical touch is permitted only in front of others.

5. Since the contract was proposed by Party A, Party B can ask for any sort of compensation, for having to abide by the rules."

"So, I can ask you for anything?"

"Pretty much, yes.

6. Both parties must be mutually understanding towards each others aims.

7. Violation of any of the clauses will be considered a breach of the contract.

8. No further amendments can be made.

And last but not the least,

9. The contract love must not turn real. "

Eunji scoffed. "As if anyone would actually fall in love with a jerk like you."

He leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, his eyes boring into hers with an intensity that made her shiver. "But I need to know that you're committed to this, Eunji. That you're not going to flake out on me at the last minute, or get cold feet because of your precious boyfriend."

Eunji bristled at the mention of Minhyuk, her hackles rising in defense of the man she loved (or thought she loved). "Don't talk about him like that," she snapped, her voice sharp with anger. "He's not 'my precious boyfriend.' He's just...complicated."

Taehyung snorted, rolling his eyes. "Complicated," he repeated, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Right. And I'm sure he's just thrilled about the idea of you playing girlfriend to another man."

"Just forget it," she muttered, her gaze dropping to the table. "I'm leaving."

"Wait a second." Taehyung took out his phone and handed it to Eunji.

"Your phone number."

Eunji realised how often she would have to see Taehyung from now on. She doubted her decision.

As she left she checked her phone only to see 17 missed calls and 25 text messages from Noeul. She immediately called her

"EUNJI-AH! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS WORRY ME LIKE THIS???"

"Calm down Noeul. What's wrong?"

"The University students online platform is overflowing with pictures of you hugging Taehyung. How would you explain that??"

"Ahh... I'll tell you tomorrow.... it's a long story...."
