a blind date. why?
you mentally facepalmed yourself for having your mom talked you into going. you arrived at the designated location, stepping out of the car as the driver closes the door behind you. a not too fancy restaurant, where you'd meet your blind date.
heels clacking behind you as you walked into the restaurant. you seated yourself at a nearby table, setting your purse aside. "can i get you something?" a woman asked, standing beside you. "tea, please." you smiled at the woman. "anything for you, sir?" she asked, looking behind you. you shifted in your seat, turning to face the person behind you. "i'll have a black coffee." he smiled at the woman, before turning to look at you. "Ms. Lee Yu-mi?" he asked, taking a seat in front of you. "yes.. who are..?" you trailed off, as the worker served your tea.
you thanked and smiled at her. "detective oh jihyuk." he says, handing you a card. "oh, so you're a detective.." you said, rubbing the side of your neck. "oh, is that a bad thing?" he asked, leaning forward as you looked at him. "n-no! of course not!" you denied.
'he's a detective? in what world?'
'he's pretty handsome for a detective. so hot!'"i'll be right back, i'll go use the restroom." you said, grabbing your purse. you walked into the restroom, placing your purse on the counter. you looked at yourself in the mirror, letting out a sigh. "all you need to do is blow this date." you told yourself. "then, you won't have to go on these stupid blind dates anymore!" you fixed your makeup, grabbing your purse as you walked out. you seated yourself down, placing your purse beside you, crossing your legs.
"so, what do you do for a living?" he asked, leaning back, hands clasped together in his lap. you raised the teacup, sipping a mouthful, before placing it back down. "i'm an elementary school teacher." you said, leaning back in your seat. "a teacher?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
"why? not towards your standards much?" you asked, tilting your head. you pulled out your phone, texting your friend the details. "i don't have any standards." he chuckled. you hummed in response, scrolling through your social media. "well, i do. they're pretty damn high too." you said, looking at him before focusing your attention onto your phone. you scrolled through social media, liking pictures. "i've never been on a blind date before." he stated, clearing his throat. "i have. i've been on many. i've seen three-four men at the same time." you shrugged, taking a sip of your tea.
ding! you tapped on the message from your friend, typing a message to send back. "it's a shame you're being so uninterested in me. me being a detective isn't that bad." he said, leaning forward as he snatched your phone from your hands. you blinked, before you looked up at him. "what are you doing right now?" you asked, leaning over as you reached your hand towards him.
he held the phone in his hand, reading your recent texts with your best friend. "ohh, so you think i'm hot?" he raised a brow, turning to look at you.
you swallowed, feeling your cheeks heat up.
you stood to your feet, walking around the table as you reached towards him. "g-give it back!" you glared at him, trying to reach the phone. he stood, reaching his arm higher as you jumped to grab your phone. "people are watching! what are you doing!?" you whisper-shouted at him, reaching your arm to grab his. he takes a step closer, sliding a hand around your waist, pulling you closely.
you gasped, your body crashed into his as he pulled you closer. he leaned closer towards you, your lips just inches apart. he smirked, "tell you what, i'll give it back." he lowered his hand as you reached to grab your phone. he pulled his hand back, chuckling as you failed once more. "if, you agree to another date." he said, tilting his head, smiling at you. "what do you say? hm?" he asked, letting go of your waist before tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. your lips parted to speak, "f-fine. just give me back my phone." you glared at him, as he lowered his hand, handing you your phone. you snatched it from him, glaring as you walked back to your seat.
bzz! bzz!
you checked your phone, hearing a buzz. turns out, it wasn't yours. you turned to face the detective who looked down at his phone, his expression turned serious. "is everything alright?" you asked, as he looks up at you. "i have to go now, take care. i'll look forward to our next date, Ms. Yumi-ssi." he smiled, before turning around and leaving. you bowed, watching as he left before plopping down on your seat.
"ma'am, your receipt." the worker hands you a receipt. "but i didn't.." you trailed off, taking the receipt from her. "your boyfriend paid in advance." she says, walking away from you.
"my boyfriend?" you chuckled to yourself.
"my boyfriend." you sighed.☆★
