With nightfall imminent, and the city just out of reach, Jaune settled on camping in the woods for the night.
With the last rays of light, he gathered some wood and tinder, and with the help of one of the daggers he acquired, created a fire drill. The fire soon followed as he set up camp near a large boulder.
While sitting by the fire and thinking about everything that happened today, he was snapped out of his thoughts by a branch snapping.
In an instant he got up into a crouched position and retrieved his danger out of his storage, holding one firmly in his left hand, while the other was captured by his strings and was being suspended midair behind his back, ready to be launched at whatever approaches...
He was prepared to face a lot of things, but not in his wildest dreams had he imagined what was approached from the tree line.
A smoking hot babe.
She had long black hair and amber eyes and wore an outfit in black and white. A weapon was strapped to her back. And a black bow was atop her head.
The moment she noticed him, she raised her hands, signaling that she was no threat.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." she apologized.
Jaune raised an eyebrow at that and sat back down.
"I was expecting a fight, not a stray," he said as he still kept ready for combat.
"I'm not a stray, I'm just a traveler." she started, not mowing from her spot.
"A traveler you are, with one fine weapon hanging from your back." he started.
"Well I'm a hunter, and I traveled here to join Beacon." she said.
Jaune laughed at that and lowered his dagger.
"Well, looks like we will meet more often then. Come join me at the fire." he invited her.
She strode over and sat by the fire across from him.
"So you are a hunter as well?" she asked.
"Not yet, but soon enough I will be." he answered, as he pulled his second danger from behind his back, using his strings and catching it with his hand.
"You gonna try to join beacon as well?" she asked curiously.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed her bow switching.
He laughed at her question.
"I'm not gonna join any guild, I'm gonna make my own." he started proudly with his grin on full display.
She did a double-take at that.
"That's quite a goal you have in mind."Jaune shrugged at that.
"I got my work cut out for me. Nobody said it was gonna be easy."She nodded at that.
"Speaking about not easy. It outa be hard to hide your thru identity." he started as he played around with the daggers.
She visibly flinched.
"What do you mean?""You are faunes, hiding your thru self under that bow. And don't even try to deny it, I've seen it move on multiple occasions." he started.
She flinched fit a moment, but after that she mowed her hands to her bow and undid it, revealing a pair of cute cat ears.
"Damn, I had my money on dog ears," he stated while adding more wood to the fire.
She looked at him in confusion.
"Are you not angry that I hid my race?" she asked timidly."Should I be?" he asked.
"No, I mean, most people would be angry that I hid my race, or they would be disgusted with me." she said with pain in her voice.
"Well, I'm not like most people. Lady luck wants me dead and the universe has a grudge against me. When it comes down to the core, we are all the same, no matter the race, no matter the class. As long as you have a decent personality, you are good in my books." he said still grinning.
That answer made her smile.
"You are right. If only more people would think so." she said in a sad tone."Ah stop whining. Life is what it is. We outa make the best out of it, and ill be damned if I can't change it for the better. My guil will bring forth a new age. An opportunity for everyone. No matter their race, no matter their class." he stated proudly.
Her smile became even brighter.
"I would love to see that. When the time comes, I might just join your guild." she stated.Jaunes grin grew even wider... If that is even possible.
"Well, I can add a beautiful mysteries stranger to my list of members then." he started. She blushed at that, but stood up and walked over to him.
"Blake, Blake Beladona. That's my name" she introduced herself holding out a hand.
Jaune stood up and shook her hand.
"Cross, Jaune Cross. Short, sweet and rolls of the tongue, the ladies love it." he stated proudly.Blake laughed at that.
"Calm down casanova. You are gonna make all the ladies faint." she teased."Can't help it." he teased back.
Blake punched him in the shoulder playfully.
"You think it's safe to sleep here?" she asked.
Jaune shrugged and did a 50/50 motion with his hand.
"I killed two goblins not that far off. Don't know if there are any more." he explained.
"Normal goblins or goblin scouts?" she asked.
"Scouts." he answered.
She sighed and sat down leaning against the boulder.
"If they were scouts it's safe. Scouts stay pretty far off from their groups. Even if some come by ill be able to hear them before they get too close." she said, yawning at the end.
"Meaning we can sleep in peace." she finished.
"Sleeping together in the same bedding, before the first date? How forward of you." he teased.
Blake rolled her eyes.
"You call this bedding?" she asked looking around."I called far worse my bedding." he stated taking a seat beside her, but a bit away.
Blake raised an eyebrow at that, but was too tired to question it.
She yawned and leaned back."Night kitty-cat." Jaune teased and tried to get comfortable himself.
"Night hudy hunter." she retorted.
Jaune lauhed at that.
"You got nothing better?"She punched him again.
"Shut up and sleep."And sleep they did.
To be continued.
