"9-1-1 what's your emergency" Elizabeth said into her headset answering her first call of the shift.

"Yeah there's this guy, he's bleeding all over the place" the caller says on the other end of the line

"Ma'am what's your name and where are you calling from" Elizabeth asks as she starts typing on the CAD system.

"Katrina, and I'm calling from the mini mart on K street, I think he's been shot, I can't be for sure cause he locked himself in the bathroom" the women says.

"Ok Katrina, I'm dispatching EMS and PD to your location, do you have a key to the bathroom can you get in and check?" Elizabeth asks as the caller lets out a chuckle.

"Management has the key and they left for the night," Katrina says sighing

"Alright then I'm also going to dispatch fire as well to get EMS into that bathroom" Elizabeth says continuing to type into the call notes. "Stay on the line with me please"

"So what's your favorite color" Katrina asks with a laugh

"Excuse me" Elizabeth says taken aback by the randomness of the question

"I figured why not make small talk, forget it" Katrina says

"Sorry I was just thrown off, lime green, lime green is my favorite color, what about you " Elizabeth says

"They are here, and Baby blue by the way" Katrina says before hanging up.

Elizabeth sighs as she pulls out her ear piece to drink from her glass of water.

"And this is our lovely mid crew" Sue says as she gestures to the dispatchers in the center, as she's giving a tour to a batch of potential new hires.

"This is Josh one of our senior dispatchers, any questions feel free to ask him or any of our other dispatchers, we hope to see you soon" Sue says as all of the potential recruits make their way to the elevator to leave.

Elizabeth was nearing the end of her shift when she went into the break room.

"Hey Elizabeth" Maddie Buckley one of Elizabeth's favorite coworkers and best friends says as she walks in.

"Hey" Elizabeth replies grabbing a cup of coffee and her creamer from the fridge

"What you doing tonight" Maddie asks wiggling her eyebrows

"First off, NEVER, and I mean never do that again. And to answer your question I'm finishing an assignment and then studying for an exam, why?" Elizabeth asks taking a sip of her coffee.

"My brother and his coworkers and I were gonna go out for drinks, I think you'd fit in, and I want you to meet them, your a good friend and I wanna hangout outside of these walls ya know" Maddie says with a sigh. All she really wanted was for her work best friend to meet her people.

"How about you and your brother, and your friends, maybe come to my hockey game this weekend" Elizabeth says before turning away to get more coffee.

"Wait you never told me you played hockey, but I'm so down, I am so in" Maddie says in shock "I'll let them know"

"I gotta get back, just let me know how many and I'll get the tickets" Elizabeth says as she walks out the glass door back to her station.

She sits down and puts back in her ear piece.

"9-1-1 what's your emergency" she says as she begins typing away again.

After her shift at the call center which wasn't long due to her college schedule Elizabeth made her way back to her dorm.

"Hey besties" her best friend and roommate Samantha says as she enters the dorm room, rockstar by dababy playing in the background

"Your going to my game on Saturday right" Elizabeth asks setting her bag down my their closet, opening it to put stuff away in there respective places around the room.

"Of course lizzy, wouldn't miss it for the world as always, why do you ask?" Samantha asks

"Sammy I may or may not have invited my coworker and her group of friends so I could meet them" Liz blurts out shaking her head "it just kinda came outta my mouth cause she invited me for drinks tonight but I told her I had to study, cause I do"

With that Elizabeth pulls out her textbooks and gets to work on her finance assignment, due the next day.

After she does that she starts to get ready for bed when she gets a text from Maddie

hey so I talked with everyone, my brother , as well as Eddie and his son, Chim and Hen, and then their captain and his wife are down to come to the hockey match, so eight people

ok my roomie will be going too, I'll get seats next to her for you guys, you'll like her
