18 | The Defiance

Chapter 18: The Defiance

HINDI KO ALAM na maaga pala akong mapasasabak sa labanan. I had no idea how they were able to find me, but because they barged in my house without my consent, I swear I wouldn't let them pass.

"A waste of my time," the man spat, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

Lihim akong napangisi. Inilayo ko kasi sila sa mansiyon sa pamamagitan ng pagtakbo. I knew that he'd follow me for some unknown reason, kasama na ang mga alagad niyang rogues. So I ran as quickly as I could and we ended up in this forest, far enough to secure my property from any damages if things got out of hand.

"Capture her, and bring her to the facility . . . alive." Tinalikuran na ako nito at mabilis na gumawa ng portal.

"Pesteng Americano!" I blurted out and swiftly threw one of my dagger towards his back. Ngunit sadyang sinusuwerte ang nilalang dahil nakapasok na ito sa portal at awtomatikong naglaho bago pa man tumarak sa kaniyang likod ang aking punyal.

I hissed and turned to face the rogues who had surrounded me.

One, two, three, four . . .

"Great!" I scoffed upon witnessing seven rogues. Now, how am I going to escape these monsters?

Naalerto ako nang biglang gumalaw ang nilalang na nasa bandang kaliwa at akmang dadambahan ako. I lowered my body to the ground in order to escape its razor-sharp claws. I immediately moved my body sideways, turning to face the rogue who was only a few inches above me. My hand grabbed another dagger from my waistband and stabbed it forcefully upward, slicing the creature's abdomen. Sinaksak ko pa ang nahiwang tiyan nito bago ko narinig ang kaniyang hiyaw.

I winced as drops of blood splattered on me. Itinukod ko ang aking siko at tumayo. I watched how the poor creature landed on the ground . . . dead.

"Damn!" I cursed under my breath when two rogues attacked me. Sinundan pa iyon ng isa na naglalaway na't handa akong sakmalin. Mabilis kong dinampot ang isang makapal na kahoy sa gilid at buong puwersang ipinalo sa pinakamalapit na nilalang. I heard it whimpered after the impact.

My hands grabbed a huge stone enough for me to hold with one hand. Without thinking twice, I hurled it firmly at the rogue who was about to bite my leg. Sapol sa kaniyang ulo ang matulis na bahagi ng bato kaya paniguradong hindi na iyon mabubuhay.

Hindi pa man ako nakahanda ng panibagong depensa nang tumalon sa akin ang isa sa mga nilalang. Huli na nang maisipan kong sipain ito dahil nakalmot na nito ang aking braso.

"Aray!" hiyaw ko habang nangingiwi dulot ng sakit. Using my uninjured arm, I gripped on my dagger and jabbed it in the creature's neck. Sumirit mula roon ang asul na dugo kasabay ng paghaltak ko ng punyal.

Tumayo ako upang harapin ang mga nalalabing nilalang. Sinamaan ko sila ng tingin dulot ng sugat na ginawa ng isa sa kanilang kasamahan.

"You know what, you're my wasting my time, too!" I exclaimed and shook my head. They growled in response, but before they could even attack me again, my eyes glowed in bright yellow as I tried searching for their mind's weakness. And when I found four frail links, I wasted no time.

"Kill yourselves."

Bumalik sa normal ang aking mga mata at napangiwi nang masilayan kung paano nila kagatin at kalmutin ang kani-kanilang sarili. Dahil no'n ay nagsimulang dumanak ang malapot na asul na dugo sa kanilang puwesto.

I was lucky that these rogues didn't have the ability to regenerate. It would be a pain in the ass if they wouldn't die despite my best efforts to slay them. If that was the case, I would've been dead by now or they could've easily brought me to their facility.
