Danielle answered first. "I'm Korean-Italian, but I was raised here. My mom's Korean, and my dad's Italian, so I grew up with a mix of both cultures."

I chimed in, "Italian. Grew up here, but I go to Italy often since part of my family's there."

"But how come you speak fluent English? This is your first time in the States, right?" Dani asked, voicing the question that had been on my mind since she mentioned where she's from.

"I went to an international school where I learned both English and Korean," Aurora replied with a smile.

Oh, makes sense. But damn-those dimples...

"And how old are you?" Aurora asked.

"I'm 28, and Dani's 26," I answered for both of us. I noticed Dani biting her lip, her gaze flicking between me and Aurora. Something's bothering her. I can tell by that subtle movement.

"What's on your mind?" I asked, my voice low.

Before she could respond, the server arrived with our food.

"Enjoy! And if you need anything else, just let me know," the server said with a warm smile.

Aurora smiled back, thanking her, before eagerly digging into her meal. A brief silence followed, the tension lingering until Aurora spoke again.

"Well, what's your relationship? It's okay if you don't want to answer."

Danielle hesitated, biting her lip before replying, "He's my boyfriend. We've been dating for two years."

I swear I saw a flicker of disappointment flash in her eyes for a second, but she quickly covered it up with a smile. A smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"Oh," she said, then went back to eating.

I ignored it, focusing on my food, even though part of me was definitely curious about how she felt.

An hour later, we were leaving the restaurant. After talking, I realized I actually got to know more about her-and I liked her.

Now I understood why Dani's been so whipped for her. Checking my watch, I saw it was just after nine. We dropped Aurora off at her dorm, and she pecked both our cheeks with a smile before saying,

"Thank you! I really enjoyed tonight."

"Good night princess" my girl replied, then we stood there, watching her disappear into the building.

After the moment of disappointment I'd seen earlier in the restaurant, Dani explained to Aurora how we'd like to explore a relationship with her. Aurora seemed pretty excited to hear that. We laid out the basics of what it would be like, but we didn't go into too much detail-saving that for another time.
