The next day, work seemed a little weird to Madelyn who had gotten used to the constant distractions and assignments that piled on. Today, however, was quiet and the hospital seemed empty. The team had finally completed the case from yesterday, but Cuddy hadn't assigned anything new, and it seemed like House was in and out of meetings for the time being.

Without much else instruction, Chase, Foreman, Taub, Thirteen, and Madelyn were told to make themselves busy until House got back from something that started almost half an hour ago now.

"I think I'm going to see if surgery needs any assistance, anyone wanna come?" Chase asked the group. Taub joined, while Foreman poured himself a cup of coffee from the little kitchenette in the back corner of the office.

"Not up for surgery today?" Thirteen asked him. He pulled out a book from his bag and set it on top of the couch arm.

"No, I just think since I have extra time to submit my research proposal for the conference I should take advantage of it." he told her, flipping through the pages towards his bookmark. "Are you guys applying?"

"I am," Madelyn answered, "what are you thinking of doing?"

"That's a secret." Foreman said half jokingly.

"Me too. But I'm not afraid to say I'm doing something relating to internal medicine procedures." Thirteen joked back, half mocking Foreman who had always been somewhat reserved.

"Well, if you guys want to research stuff together and brainstorm, I'll be here." Foreman added, patting the open seats beside him on the couch.

Thirteen nodded and took a seat after grabbing her laptop. Madelyn, on the other hand, continued to stand there; she felt awkward because while she wanted to work with them on the proposals, she also felt she had better-suited business elsewhere.

"You gonna join?" Thirteen asked her with her big green eyes beaming.

Madelyn paused momentarily,

"I think I actually need to take care of something first, but I'll join you guys when I'm done?"

They agreed and sent her off, so she could accomplish her task.

Exiting the office door, she glided down the hall, her hair bouncing with each step. Upon reaching her destination, she knocked on a door not too far away from where she just was. A second later, a handsome, brunette doctor opened the door with a grin in her direction.

"Hi James." Madelyn greeted him, brushing past him lightly and into his office.

He closed the door and turned to follow her towards his desk. Wilson couldn't help but notice how good Madelyn's legs looked in her fuchsia mini skirt, and the way her hair resembled the silk that rippled along her black blouse. Wilson wasn't over her yet, and her beauty was only one testament to his inability to do so.

"How are you doing?" Wilson asked, half sitting on the edge of his desk while Madelyn stood in front of him. She sighed a little,

"Today's kind of weird to be honest, House is here, but he's not around. We're not even assigned to anything, so he told us to basically make ourselves busy."

"Sounds like House." Wilson shrugged, taking a sip of his tea.

"I wanted to use my free time to come see you, and thank you for helping with the differential diagnosis yesterday," Madelyn commented with a smile and flash of her perfectly white teeth that gleamed through her smiling lips. Wilson watched the way her lips moved as she thanked him.

"Of course, I try to help out where I can." He responded, somewhat nervously.

He had purposely been avoiding Madelyn for a few days since the incident with House. Not only was Wilson all too aware of his feelings for her, but she had looked so upset the other day that he wanted to give her space.
