I'm Sophie Monroe, the used-to-be queen bee of Eastwood High. I had everyone wrapped around my finger. If I wanted anything, all I had to do was say pretty please to the first person my eyes found.
Ashley Miller was second best to me. Ashley Miller is dead. But now she's the current hot topic. She didn't just disappear into thin air. Everybody knows she's dead but they all pretend to care about her with all sorts of things dedicated to her. Our school's social media accounts are blowing up about her. Ever since the Amber Alert went out it's been songs, articles, letters, apologies, you name it. Everybody is suddenly obsessed with her. And It's pissing me off.
One second I'm a shoo-in for prom queen and nobody will shut up about me. And the next, I'm merely the background noise in chaos. Whatever. They can play the violin on the titanic all they want. Ashley is dead. They'll get over it. Right?
