~~~~REBEL POV~~~~
It had been a few days since the sled team left and I was getting worried. Everyone was getting worried. Balto and I snuck to the boiler room and spied on the dogs from a high window.
"It's terrible, my friends. Just terrible." The old dog said from where he stood by the door of the boiler room. He had just gotten news from Morse, the telegraphers dog, and it didn't seem good. "Steele and his team are lost."
"No!"
"Steele?"
"What do you mean, lost?"
"What?!" Disbelief rang out from everyone, shocked that Steele was lost.
"They missed their second checkpoint. They're off the trail." The old dog informed.
"Can't they send another team?" A dog asked.
"It's too dangerous for us, and our men." The old dog shook his head.
"What about them little ones?" The same dog asked.
"The medicine won't be here in time. We're going to lose them." The old dog said and everyone bowed their heads in sadness.
"Rosy." Balto quietly gasped. We exchanged looks before hopping down from the window and bolting to the hospital. When we arrived, Balto lead me to the window that looks into the room Rosy was in and I gasped at how sick she looked. Rosy's parents let Jenna into the room and she rested her head on Rosy's body, worried about her girl. Balto jumped down from the wood stack and I followed him as we trotted to the wood maker's shop. We peeked around the open door to see him finish building something. The wood maker picked up his creation and set it against the wall with others. He stepped away and shook his head sadly but when he finally walked away we were able to see what he had made, making us gasp. Coffins. He was making coffins. Some small ones and some decently big ones. All kinds of sizes for children.
"We have to do something. The children will die if they don't get the medicine." I mumbled to Balto. We stared at the ground with a calculated gaze before looking back towards the hospital and whispering,
"Rosy." He then turned to me and nodded before we raced back to the boat to get Boris.
"Balto, Rebel, please. Don't go crazy on me now. Ooh! This is foolishness." Boris said as he followed me and Balto. We just continued walking with a determined face towards the hospital. "You will die like a dog. What? No offense." Boris said before he fell into a pipe. Balto and I continued walking, skillfully sliding on ice as Boris fell out of the pipe above us when we slid by. "You will be frozen stiff by morning. When you two are big, frozen stiff statue named Balto and Rebel, don't come running to me!" Balto and I continued walking towards the approaching hospital, ignoring Boris whining about how he's starting to understand the bear. Balto grabbed Boris by the head and dragged him to the window that looks into Rosy's room. "Bears! Dogs! Wolves! Balto! Balto! Balto! No brains at all! Might as well be talking to shoe......lace." Boris stopped when he spotted Rosy laying in bed, wheezing as she tossed and turned in bed.
"That's why we want to go get the medicine. We want to save them, Boris." I said as we stared at Rosy as she coughed and shivered in bed.
"So, let's go get the medicine." Boris said as he hopped off the wood stack and onto the ground.
"Wait a minute. Now you're coming?" Balto questioned as we turned to see the goose walking away.
"Spending days in bitter cold, facing wild animals! Risking death from exposure! Sounds like holiday in old country." Boris chuckled. Balto and I grinned as we jumped down from the wood stack and ran after Boris, Muk, and Luk.
