~~~~REBEL POV~~~~
We ran across the open snow plain that surrounded the town of Nome. Balto and I smiled when the town came into sight and lights that looked like the Northern Lights was flashing behind the town. Balto and I howled, alerting Jenna, Boris, Muk, and Luk that we had finally returned with the team and the medicine. I slowed down to run alongside Kaltag and we grinned at each other. I howled again before running to catch up to Balto. The lights of the town came on and people came rushing out of their houses while pulling on coats as we ran into town and stopped in front of the hospital. The doctor came running out of the hospital and opened the medicine crate.
"Steady, steady. Easy now. That's had a long journey." The doctor said as he and another man unloaded the medicine and brought it into the hospital. People approached Balto and started petting and congratulating him. A man approached me and stuck his hand out. I sniffed his hand and licked it before setting my head under it and allowing the man to pet me. Muk and Luk suddenly came out of nowhere and tackled me into a hug with Balto and Boris. I poked my head out of the hug and gasped for breath as the sled team laughed at us with smiles. I glared playfully at a laughing Kaltag but he only grinned at me, making me roll my eyes with a small grin. Balto and I squeezed out of the hug and Rosy's dad approached Balto.
"Come on, boy. There's someone who wants to see you." Rosy's father smiled at Balto. Balto followed the man onto the porch of the hospital before looking back at me and Boris. We made encouraging shooing motions and Balto grinned before walking inside. Jenna followed after him and I grinned and nudged Boris, who also grinned.
"Think they'll get together finally?" I asked Boris.
"If they don't I'm going to chew my leg off." Boris complained. I laughed until Balto came back outside and chased Jenna on the porch before they touched noses. They stared at one another before nuzzling and smiling at each other. The crowed started cheering and applauding Balto and I grinned, happy Balto was a hero and we were finally accepted in town.
"He has the most endurance, the most fidelity, intelligence-"
"They should build a statue of him!" Star said, interrupting Kaltag. Star whimpered, thinking Kaltag was gonna hit him, but he just nudged him with a nod.
"You said it!" Kaltag agreed with Star.
"I did?" Star smiled. I caught Kaltag's eye and smiled at him, him returning the smile. He got up and sat beside me, our tails slightly touching.
"So, you gonna go back to stealing steaks?" Kaltag questioned with a grin.
"Maybe. Do I have a partner that will keep me company as he clumsily climbs on top of the roof?" I asked, a small smirk on my face.
"Of course. I'm not leaving your side." Kaltag promised. We smiled at one another before leaning against one another and nuzzling.
"I love you, Kaltag."
"And I love you, Rebel."
