Clarke and Lexa have been best friends ever since the first day they met. They grew up together in a group home. Clarke would always be overly protective of Lexa when they stayed together; making sure that no one would bully her, or make her think that she's weird or different in a bad way, but especially making sure that the family was fit for her best friend. Clarke and Lexa were adopted on the same day, but by different families. Fortunately the family's homes were not too far from each other which made it great for them to meet somewhere in the middle. They promised that they would meet at a nearby coffee shop every day to catch up.

When they would meet up, Lexa wouldn't stop talking about her new family and new house. For her it was amazing, but that got Clarke thinking. For the first week they would meet and chat, nothing was out of the ordinary, until Lexa stopped showing up.

Clarke would still show up, knowing Lexa would probably get caught up in something. As more days passed, Clarke was getting worried. She would never believe that Lexa would just stop seeing her. They kept a promise, and they never broke their promises. Losing hope of what friendship she thought she had with Lexa, she left.

As Clarke was going home she bumped into Lexa.

She was shocked at what she was looking at. Lexa was crying. Not only that, she was covered in bruises and cuts on her face. The weather outside was warm, but she was wearing a sweater, maybe to cover up more bruises that she had.

They went to a nearby park and sat on a bench. Lexa laid her head on Clarke's lap. She was still crying. Clarke tried to comfort her in any way that she could. She stroked her soft hair and asked her.

"Lexa, what are they doing to you?" Clarke was hurt at the sight of how much physical and probably even emotion pain that Lexa was feeling. When Lexa was taken to what seemed like a nice family, turned out to be the complete opposite of what they both expected.

"I don't know what I'm doing wrong with these people. Clarke I need your help. I can't live like this, and I can't Iive with them any longer than I am now."

"I'll find away Lexa. I'll find away."

"How?"

"I don't know but it has to be soon."

"Clarke, I can't take another night in that house. This is what they've done to me just for doing the smallest things. I'm not even supposed to be out of the house, that's why I haven't seen you in so long. I wanted to, but they wouldn't let me. If they ever find out, they might actually kill me. Clarke I'm scared."

"Lexa if you knew they would do this to you, why didn't you go straight to the police?"

"Because if I do, they might take me away to god knows where, and I wouldn't be able to tell you. I couldn't leave you behind."

"And I'm not leaving you behind, not ever, especially like this." Clarke thought of something. "We run away. Get out of town, off the grid."

"They'll come after me, after both of us."

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep you safe Lex."

Clarke stands up and takes Lexa's hand. "Go home."

"Clarke no, I'm too scared."

"I won't let them do anything to you, okay? I promise. I'll be at that house as soon as I can, I just need to run back to my place and grab a few things. "

"Okay, but please be quick."

"I will Lexa, no one's gonna hurt you anymore. I'll make sure of that."

Clarke let go of Lexa's hand and ran home as fast as she could. She needed to make sure that every second counted. Who knows what they were going to do to her. She didn't want to think about that. She was too focused on getting her out.
