SIENNA KLOWSKI walked confidently into the halls of Le Vehemens, ignoring all the whispers that increased tenfold the moment she entered the hall. She could feel everyones eyes on her, it was a feeling she'd gotten used to after many years of living in a certain type of spotlight due to the people she acquainted herself with. Usually, a single scalding glare from the fiery redhead always managed to hush the whispers and dissipate the curious, jealous or sometimes even malicious gazes.
However, this time was different, not only were her angry glares at the peeping onlookers ineffective but there was something different in the way people looked at her, the usual curious glances were replaced with another emotion, something more intense, something more angry; people were looking at her with suspicion in their gazes.
As Sienna chucks her notebooks into her locker she spots a meek looking girl approach her from her peripheral with a determined look in her eyes "H-hey Sienna" the girl stutters, Sienna raises her eyebrows at the girl, not giving her a verbal response as if to tell her to scurry away. A single look from the beautiful girl almost made the meek girl lose her resolve and walk away, but after a moment, she continued her sentence; "were you and Emma close?" At this, Sienna's face darkens her and Emma were close, but not for reasons one would think.
Noticing the change in Sienna's features, the girl quickly continued; "you see, me and Emma were close before she... became friends with your circle and i'd catch her talking about you all the time so I was wondering if maybe you were with her before she died? I just know Emma wouldn't have drowned herself in the lake, she just wasn't that type of person!" she rambled.
Having had enough of this un-consented and frankly annoying one sided conversation, Sienna snapped at the girl "If you were so close with Emma, she wouldn't have ditched you the moment she found better friends. I suggest you stop wasting my time and yours and learn how to leave things in the past. And to answer your useless question, I wasn't close with that suicidal bitch. She was always a bit odd though, no wonder she offed herself". And walked off without another glance.
Now in a worse mood that this morning, Sienna decides to skip for first class and heads to the abandoned music room in the schools west tower. Her and her friends had found this room not too long ago and had designated it as their unofficial meet up spot. Theo even managed to bribe the principal into giving them the keys to tho room so they somehow ended up making the space theirs. They each had a personal key to the area.
She enters the room only to find Elina and Roman already there. Roman was smoking an Imported Marlboro whilst Elina sat three seats away from him frowning at the expensive cancer stick between his fingers.
They both turn their heads towards the door when they hear Sienna enter and Roman nods his head at her in acknowledgement as Elina shoots Sienna a warm smile at Sienna. Just barely returning the smile, Sienna notes how odd the couples friendship is, and how they're the polar opposites of each other; Him. Restless, stormy-eyed. Rough and Her. Silent, Fawn-eyed. Clever.
She also noted the weary manner in which Elina always seemed to interact with Roman.
"I didn't realise we were meeting here today" Sienna remarked. "Nobody told me". "We weren't" replied Elina, "I ran into Roman this morning and he dragged me here, something about him not wanting to go to class". "I was sick of all the stares" said Roman with a scoff "people seem to be finding it harder to keep their eyes to themselves lately". Tell me about it Sienna agreed mentally as she nodded her head and Roman.
Suddenly, the door to the music room opens and Aurora walks in followed closely by Theo. The couple were already talking amongst themselves in a hushed tone, Sienna couldn't make out anything they were saying.
It was only when Sienna snapped her fingers at them did they seem to take notice of the others' presence. Surprise seemed to register in Aurora's eyes as she registered the presence of the rest of the group " oh! we're all here, what a surprise" she exclaimed. "Well that's a good thing because I was planning on gathering us up for a talk anyway, due to um.. a few recent events, there's something important that we need to address no?" she said as she walked up to Elise to give the girl a peck on the cheek before making her way to Sienna for a short embrace. Though her words were said in a casual tone and manner, Sienna could pick up a slight hint of urgency that tainted Auroras words.
All of them agreed with aurora as they arranged themselves to be seated in a circle of sorts. Surprisingly, Roman is the first to speak. He informed the group that the police have planned to hold interviews today. It was no surprise to Sienna or the rest of the group that He knew this, as after all, He was the son of the head of police of the entire city.
For generations, the men of the Maldonado family had controlled the police force of the city. The family was also known to be corrupt and to have dipped their fingers in a handful of criminal organisations which are the reason for the abundant wealth of the Maldonado family. And Roman, despite his not to clean track record was expected to carry on this corrupt legacy. "we'll tell them exactly what happened then" commented Theo for the first time this afternoon "we all know exactly what happened that night, right?"
"yes" agreed the rest of the group, avoiding eye contact with each other. The earlier day the group had discussed alibis in case an interview like this happened to take place; Theo and Roman were at the gym together, Elina was at the library, Aurora was at home, having a relaxing afternoon and Sienna was out shopping the evening that Emma died.
The group had even bribed the gym staff as well as the librarian at the local library to solidify their alibis. After all, nobody should ever find out that they were in this very room, facing the schools lake the night of Emma's 'suicide'.
