Can was lying in his huge bed staring at the dark ceiling. He couldn't sleep. His suitcase had been packed for days and was waiting for him in the corridor, and in just a few hours he had to decide whether to get on the plane and run away from his problems again, thinking that this was how they disappeared, abandoning everything he had attached himself to - the company, the job, Emre, Sanem...
He realized he wouldn't sleep that night when the clock struck three and he had an hour before leaving for the Istanbul airport. He stood up, naked to the waist, and headed to the kitchen for a cup of bitter coffee. As he swallowed every sip he couldn't stop thinking about her and only her. How had she gotten under his skin so deeply and at the same time she felt nothing for him?
Can found her strange and hard to figure out because that's exactly how Sanem was - she acts one way and the next day she's completely different... Only God knows what was going on in her beautiful head. Can smiled at the thought. She would stay there - only in his thoughts, only in his dreams, because she didn't want him, and he couldn't let that get in the way of the career ahead of her.
Can drank the small cup of coffee and returned to his bedroom.
...
Sanem got out of the taxi with trembling fingers and a racing pulse. She couldn't believe how brave she was. On the way she thought several times of stopping this nonsense and going home, but she didn't, she couldn't. This was her last chance to fill the missing pieces of her heart.
She stood in front of Can's door and took a deep breath... Now or never, Sanem! she whispered and looked at her watch. It was a few minutes to four o'clock, his car was in the yard, which reassured her - she was not late.
Her finger rang the bell and she closed her eyes. The seconds that passed were among the hardest of her life. It was too late for turning back. She opened her eyes the moment the door was heard and Can stood in front of her bare-chested.
If until now Sanem wasn't sure what to say, at that moment she forgot everything she had repeated in her mind in the taxi. She looked him over and swallowed hard. Then her gaze shifted to something behind him - a suitcase. His luggage was ready and he was going to leave.
"Sanem? What are you doing here at this time?" he said anxiously and released her from the trance. She shook her head and looked at his worried face.
"I... Can Bey I-I, um," she nervously intertwined her fingers in front of her.
"Come in, it's cold," he took her trembling icy fingers and led her forward, then closed the door and leaned against it to listen to his guest. - "What's up, has something happened?" - he didn't let go of her hands, he warmed them with his own.
"Can Bey, I came to... şey, I have something important to tell you before you leave..." - she spoke so timidly, as if they were so close for the first time.
"Okay, Sanem, what is it?" Can replied, also almost whispering
"Can Bey..." she began, her head lowered. She needed to calm down to find the courage to say what she felt was right. Then she looked up and their eyes met. She held her breath for a moment sank into his gaze. The same one she was falling in love with every day. And she would risk it. Everything. Right now. Come on, Sanem, ne olursa olsun /whatever happens!/, she said in mind. - "Can Bey, gitmeyin..." /don't leave/
Can looked at her pale face, caressing her hand, and was not sure if this was really Sanem in front of him. He couldn't tell if he was dreaming because she had appeared in his dreams so many times but disappeared every time he reached for her.
"Why?"
"You should stay because..." - she looked down again and exhaled worriedly - "... because there are people here who love you more than themselves, they care about you and they don't want you to leave them. Stay because Istanbul is your home, here are your relatives, your best friends, here..." she couldn't say her name, she had no right to after the lie that she wasn't in love with him... And how much did she want him to know that she she would always be by his side... - "Here's... " - she didn't know how to continue without mentioning herself.
