Inference x Trickster

____

"Hmm, we lack some information on this part."

The man scratched his chin while leaning over the big table on which many papers were scattered. The owl in his shoulder seemed to sleep, not caring much about her owner's predicament.

"I think I should have some clues at home in my files." spoke another man with a cap.

"Should I come to help you find them?" The detective was about to accept his colleague's offer but then he suddenly remembered an important detail which took the words out of his mouth. "Inference?"

"S-Sorry. We should call it a day." He suddenly said while rubbing the bridge of his nose. "My house is a mess right now so I have to clean up a bit first."

"Is that really necessary, I mean, I really don't expect you to be the kind to keep a clean environment. Isn't Truth always taking care of your office?"

"I insist...!"

"Alright...?"

"Well, it was nice having a meeting with you, Recluse, but if you may excuse me, I'll go home first."

"Huh, sure, see you tomorrow I guess?"

"Yes, yes."

Inference exchanged a last goodbye with Recluse before leaving the agency. Detectives have no schedule so it was way past the usual rush hour when he left. Night had covered the whole city with its dark veil with the streetlights poorly illuminating the alleys. Thankfully, he didn't live too far from his workplace, maybe twenty minutes walk away. Well, he probably made it a bit faster this time.

Once in front of his apartment, he swiftly pulled out his keys to open the door then immediately walked to his room. He barged in and frowned deeply upon the discovery he made.

On his bed, still at the same spot he last saw him when he left earlier, laid a man completely naked partly hidden under the covers, the visible parts of his body showing quite a lot of love bites here and there. But this wasn't the main focus here- No- This man was exactly the reason why Inference couldn't let anyone and mostly his co-workers come to his place.

Just at that moment, the black-haired man in the bed let out a light groan to signal that he was waking up. His eyes slowly opening to reveal two golden irises. Right, this man he had been messing around with was part of a rather well-known mafia gang in town and it would definitely bode to nothing good if his colleagues were aware of their relationship.

"Damn, you really didn't move an inch, did you." snarled Inference.

"You're there... I thought you wouldn't come back before tomorrow so I didn't bother getting up."

"You never change, Trickster."

"I quite like the way I am now." The dark-haired man sketched a cheeky smile to the detective who only sighed as he picked up the latter's clothes from the floor, handing them to him afterward. Although that didn't give the man the urge to dress up. "Since you're here why don't you come into the bed?"

"You-... I'm someone busy, you know. Also, you can't stay here forever."

Trickster's smile disappeared as he leaned against his hand in a bored stance.

"Are you throwing me away?"

"What-? Don't you have a house too-?" Trickster stayed silent as he stared at Inference, making the atmosphere rather awkward in the room. Not being able to endure it any longer, the detective was the one to break the silence first, dropping onto the bed next to the other and putting his hands on his shoulders. "You know I don't mean it this way..."

"I didn't know you could be so docile, Infe," answered Trickster before flipping Inference on the bed. "But how should I know if you're not clear about it? I can't read minds. How can I forgive you?"

Trickster's glare was cold as ice but Inference knew this wall was fragile like glass. A detective could not be shaken up by little threats like these after all. He sighed again and changed their positions to be the one on top this time, messing the bed sheets even more.

"Would you forgive me if I use my body...?"

The detective loosened his tie and unbuttoned his shirt a bit under the intense gaze of the other man, a slight blush on his cheeks.

"I'll consider it if you last long enough to break me."

Inference gulped, he did not know if he liked that answer or not. When it came to this matter, Trickster could be rather... aggressive. He still had work to do tomorrow too. But, oh well, nothing was bad to relieve the stress from work when he spent time with him.
