Chapter 2

"What do you see in him?" I asked Joy

Joy and I were talking over lunch at a local restaurant, fueling ourselves before a painstakingly long shopping trip.

"Well so far all I can say is he's really charming and kind." She responded shyly.

"Please don't tell me you're already falling for him?"

"Well if someone approaches you like that how would you feel?!"

"Alright, alright. I see where you're coming from, but please tell me you'll be careful around him."

"Of course. Just because I've started having feelings for him doesn't mean I trust him from the start."

"Good because the last thing I want to see is my best friend hurt."

I still don't trust Eric one bit, I wish I could warn her to be more cautious around him without seeming unsupportive. She hasn't been through a relationship where your significant other hurts you like no other. She was there with me through all the tears, but you never know how someone feels until you experience it yourself. I should give Eric a chance.

But one wrong move....

"But I wanna be more dressed up!" Joy complained after I picked a more casual outfit for her.

"You do realize this is a senior party. We're going to a house packed with people rubbing against each other to the beat of the music; and you wanna be all dressed up."

"Well when you put it that way-"

"I mean really it's not like you and Eric are on a date or something." I interrupted her, still rambling on.

"I get it now. Thanks."

"Just trying to help my best friend."

In the end we both chose casual outfits that had a little edge to make them more suitable for a party. I chose a black leather jacket, a white t-shirt, ripped jeans with a black belt, black heeled ankle boots and a few chokers to spice up the look.

I was a very basic girl when it came to fashion in school but once I'm outside of school my creativity can spark.

As for Joy, I helped her put together an outfit with a yellow floral blouse tucked into jeans ripped at the knees with a different black leather jacket but the same black heeled ankle boots.

With our outfits complete, we agreed to meet up at my house to finish getting ready for the party. It was 4:37 pm and we had a half hour drive back to Hawley since there aren't any good shopping spots there we had to go to Greenfield. We had less than 4 hours to finish getting ready, if we plan to get there at 9.

Just barely enough time.

Call me crazy for needing 4 hours to get ready but when your best friend comes over your house things tend to get carried away.

When she pulled into my driveway I basically raced her to my bedroom, something we often did since we were little.

"Ha beat you!" she gloated.

"Too bad for you, the race doesn't end until we're in my room!" I responded while running up the stairs.

"What?! Since when has that ever been a rule?!"

"Since we're racing at my house!"

After winning the race, she retreated into my bathroom with a towel in hand to sulk about her loss. Joy had been over so many times that all she needed to sleepover was stored at my house. She's gradually become apart of my family.

"I see what you're trying to do. But you can't shower forever!" I exclaimed as she slammed the door.

While in the process of removing the tags off our clothes and bringing out my makeup I heard my dad call me from down stairs.

"I'll be right there dad!"

Running down the stairs, I searched for my father until I found him in his office.

"You called?"

"Yeah I wanted to know if you've seen the new neighbor?"

"Someone moved in? Where?" I asked with interest.

"Ms.Wagner's son."

"Since when did Ms.Wagner have a son?"

"Before she got divorced."

"How did you find this out?" I asked curiously

"Oh that doesn't really matter. I called you down here because of her son."

"What's his name?" I asked.

"Matt, he's your age too. Anyway, he's here only for the summer and Ms.Wagner is worried he'll have trouble making friends."

"But I dont wanna." I whined knowing exactly where this conversation was going.

"Alright, but can you at least promise me you'll be friendly?" He pleaded

"I guess I can do that."

"Great! Oh and I hope your not going to a party." He added.

"But Dad!!"

"No buts! Wait maybe I could make one exception." He exclaimed.

"What?" I asked.

"You can go to that party but only on one condition."

"Which is..."

"You take Matt along with you."

"Dad come on!" I immediately rejected.

"I guess you'll be staying in tonight then."

"Alright alright." I responded annoyed.

"Great to see we've come to an agreement."

"Is there anything else you needed from me?"

"No I think that's all, thank you."

"Oh the pleasure was all mine" I responded sarcastically while walking away.

'Oh and don't forget your curfew is at midnight!" He yelled in response.

How am I going to break this news to Joy let alone Matt? She'll understand some day. I just hope this Matt kid is close to normal. Right now, I can't tolerate nonsense. This party should be worth it though.

Hello my dearest readers!

I actually wrote chapter 2 the day after I wrote chapter 1 but half of it never saved and I've been pushing it off for some reason. But I finally sucked it up and now im writing this chapter at 1 in the morning.

Little story for those of you who care.
I watched a basketball game yesterday with my dad after a long time. The game lasted 3 hours when it's originally meant to be 48 mins

So I got to bed at midnight and wrote this book for an hour. I have to wake up in a few hours for church so pray for me that I dont fall asleep during the sermon.
