   those were the words her soft lips uttered to him before he found himself descending the mountain he had grown to call his own home, his friend nowhere in sight as he was probably already halfway down. all throughout his journey to the mountain where the examination was to be held, he found himself ruminating on the dark haired girl's words, a fond smile unconsciously plastered on his features behind his mask. perhaps her appeal was what impelled him to slice down the necks of the sickly creatures that roamed the dark mountain top.

   or perhaps, it was that even if she hadn't said anything, he would still return to her embrace. because when she looked at him with her reposeful eyes that conveyed such a pleasant emotion, he knew he couldn't afford being the reason such a sparkle diminished. every time he admired her beauty he could feel a deep cacoethes pool in his chest, and he found his face burn vermillion as his lavender hues focus on anything other than the girl he deemed an angel.

   despite knowing that if he were to pass final selection he'd have to leave her to pursue his new career, and despite attempting to discard the fondness he felt for he beauty, he still found himself longing for her delicate touches and tender gaze. he yearned to steal her away from the cruelty of the world. and most importantly, he yearned to kiss her and show her that despite his teasings and sometimes harsh treatment, that he was loved her.
