Two months have gone by but it feels like two weeks.
Time passed a lot faster than she expected it to. She's already had to buy a new set of work clothes. All of her old clothes fit her tighter now; even her sweatpants have turned into leggings.
It's taking all of Genesis' self control not to send progress pictures to Harrison. She wants so badly for him to be along for this journey with her but, at the same time, just getting to see his reaction to the final product is going to be worth the wait.
Carter has been a good outlet for that sort of stuff. It's nice to have another person who knows what her goals are and celebrates her accomplishments.
Carter runs his hands across her waist and leans into her slightly as they both stand facing the counter top in the kitchen. Genesis is pinned between him and the granite as she devours a box of chocolate. He leans over and kisses the back of her neck.
Carter begins to get hard and takes a step back from her so she won't notice. It's a miracle that they haven't had sex yet. It's been months now. But then again they were both really busy with work and Genesis didn't come over every night and the nights that she was over they both usually ended up falling asleep.
He's noticed Genesis' clothing getting too tight for her. The way she looks is tempting enough but leaning up against her soft frame like this is almost too much to handle. He makes an excuse to grab something from another room so he can breathe for a second.
Now that he's alone and has a second to himself, he breathes and calms himself down.
He starts working up the courage to make a move. Because if he keeps waiting for the perfect time then it's never going to happen right? Right. He searches around the room and decides to grab something from the bedside table before walking back into the kitchen. As he's approaching, he holds the phone charger up as if needing to justify his reason for leaving the room but Genesis isn't even looking at him anyway so there was no point. She's leaned over the counter almost in the exact position that he left her there in except her phone has replaced the chocolate that was in her hands.
Genesis notices that Carter has re-entered the room.
"Look." She holds her phone up to him.
She's showing him Harrison's instagram and he has to admit, this man gets hotter every time he sees him. Whatever confidence that was left in his body has completely eviscerated now. Harrison looks well over six feet and he's holding the leash to a very sharp looking black dobermann. He's leaning against an expensive looking vehicle and is wearing an oversized black hoodie that hangs well on his body. Genesis' voice fades into the background as Carter listens to her gush about how good Harrison looks and how much he's changed since she's seen him last. Carter has a hard time paying attention to what she's saying as Harrison's digital eyes peer back at him; staring into his soul.
He makes a comment about how Harrison looks like he hasn't slept in weeks and Genesis' voice gets more excited saying that's what makes him look even better. Then she goes onto say how much she likes guys who look like they haven't slept in forever, or like they got punched in both eyes. She goes into a long winded speech, describing her type to a T and none of the characteristics line up with what Carter looks like. He takes the phone from her as she continues talking and she walks away to go find a snack.
"There are golden retriever guys and then there are dobermen" Genesis goes on.
Carter is overwhelmed by the amount of information being thrown at him. He starts to question if she even likes him at all. By the end of her long winded rant he has gathered that she likes men that look like they've been to Russian prison, look extremely tired all the time, and have dobermanns apparently... or... look like dobermanns? He can't remember, he can't keep up. But he does remember her saying something about how his Instagram is private because he has to keep a professional front so you can really see the real Harrison on his Instagram page.
They're adults. With corporate jobs. Yet he's hanging out in a kitchen listening to a woman gush about a guy as if they were in high school, and what's worse it's making him jealous. Who even uses Instagram anymore at their age? Everyone but him apparently. Harrison seems to awake this childlike excitement in her and all he seems to awake in Genesis is... hunger. He looks over at her eating a cream cheese bagel. She smiles up at him before taking her phone back.
As Genesis continues to gush at the photos of Harrison, Carter decides to give it one last try. Maybe he can redirect her focus. His palms begin to sweat as he walks up behind her. He goes to place a hand on her lower back, on the skin that's exposed between her pants and the shirt she's wearing. Mindlessly, Genesis turns and heads to his bedroom before he can make contact.
