Open your eyes, look up to the sky and see..ow. A bright light to my left burns my eyes and I can hear Bohemian Rhapsody playing somewhere.
"H-hey she's waking up guys."
Dean. My vision is blurry but I can see the outline of his figure to my right.
"Ana? Ana? You're in a hospital. You fainted at a restaurant? Do you remember any of this?" Is that the doctor? My head is spinning. What do I remember? Uh, I remember the restaurant and Dean with my parents, and um, fish and the guy. Was that him?
"Mom, mom?"
"Yes sweetheart I'm right here. It's okay."
"I-I think I..had a..panic attack." The words felt foreign in my mouth. I've never had a panic attack before.
"I know sweety, the doctor told us. But you hit your head pretty hard when you fell and he wasn't sure if something bad was gonna happen so he kept you over night." Her voice cracked. Tears were in her throat and I could hear them. She's so scared for me.
"Hi Anna. I'm Dr. Quijano. I'm just gonna check your vitals and see if you're okay." He shines a light in my eye and I blink back the spots that have shown up in my vision. Dr. Quijano takes the clipboard from the front of my bed and writes some notes down.
"Okay your vitals are good, you have no signs of a concussion so you can be discharged later this afternoon." He smiles and walks out of the room.
"Ana did you see something or hear something because you looked like you saw a ghost at the restaurant." Dean grabs my hand and looks at me. His eyes are filled with fear and he looks like he knows what I saw. Or thought I saw.
"Um I-I don't know." My voice is shaky and uncertain. But that's not even close to how terrified I am on the inside. On the inside I'm the scared little girl that Richard saw when he entered the room, or even when he came near me. My stomach was in knots and I threw up every time after he took me on the floor or on my bed. I'm terrified and paranoid. I didn't think that he could make me feel so terrified and he hasn't even come near me.
"You can stay with us at our hotel for the night or two?" My dad steps in and Dean steps away.
"You know if you want to. We just want to know you're okay." I can't stay with my parents. That would be really weird and awkward.
"No it's okay. Really. I'm fine"
Dean moves to the other side of me and takes my hand in his.
"Hey. Um..can I talk to Ana really quick?" Dean tells my parents. He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. My parents exchange glances before speaking.
"Uh yeah sure. That's fine." My mom takes my dad's hand and they both walk out.
"What was that abo-"
Before I can even get a sentence out, Deans lips crash into mine. A long awaited, impatient kiss. He cups my face in his hands, then he pulls away and stared into my eyes and it makes me dizzy.
"I-I'm sorry. I just really needed to kiss you. I was terrified last night, and I didn't know if.."
He trails off and looks away from my eyes.
"Hey, it's okay." I smile at him and his eyes light up again. His familiar emerald green eyes meet mine and he leans down and kisses my head.
"Ana, I uh, got you something. I was gonna give it to you after dinner but..." He gestures to the hospital and I can't help but chuckle. He takes out a long black velvety case from his jacket and hands it to me.
"Dean?" I'm completely surprised. My voice breaks a little and my eyes are watery. I blink back the tears and open the box to find a silver bracelet. Actually a charm bracelet. In the middle is a square silver charm with a beautiful purple A. There is only one other charm on it. It's a small coffee cup. It's the most beautiful present that I've ever gotten. My eyes start to water again, but I try to blink back the tears.
"Dean, it's beautiful." My voice is shaky.
"And every anniversary we can add a new one." He smiles "you know If you want to. We can do like a every new year thing too. It can really be whenever you wa-"
"Just shutup and kiss me you dork." I was tired of hearing him ramble on. He bends down and his soft lips meet mine. A stirring starts in my stomach. He opens his mouth and deepens the kiss. My head is spinning.
I hear someone's throat clear. Dean pulls away and I feel my face turn hot.
"We were just wondering what was going on with your heart monitor. It was increasing rapidly, but now I can see what happened. Um, we're gonna go ahead and discharge you. Your clothes and belongings will be brought to you by a nurse shortly. Have a Merry Christmas." And at that the doctor closes the door.
