The next day Ayato left for work, leaving Thoma a little disappointed but nonetheless he did his chores went to the market and helped a little boy get his cat out of a tree. Ayaka helped him train to use his polearm better which left him with sore muscles. At the end of the day, Ayato came back and was greeted by an enthusiastic Thoma. Ayato looked as exhausted as him except he was in a worse mood, he forced a smile when he saw Thoma in order not to worry him. It didn't work though.
-Is everything all right my Lord? he asked, concerned.
-Thoma, I think I need that massage you promised, he rubbed his temples.
-Of course, I'll get things ready.
Ayato watched Thoma run off, a smile on his face.
He got the oil and towels, he also prepared a hot bath for him. As the commissioner walked into the room, he immediately took off his jacket and shirt. He let them fall on the ground and walked over to his futon.
- My Lord... could you wrap a towel around your waist I don't want the oil to stain your clothes.
- All right.
He wrapped the towel around himself and laid back on his stomach. Thoma rubbed the oil on his hands and hesitated, he didn't dare to touch his fair skin.
-Is something wrong? Ayato asked.
-No, not at all! I was just wondering um... What part of your back I should massage first? he made up on the spot.
- My shoulders would be nice, the commissioner responded. So Thoma once again did as he was told. He rubbed Ayato's shoulders, changing techniques every once in a while, before slowly moving down. His face turned red as his hands traced his soft, pale skin. He could feel butterflies fluttering around in his stomach. Thoma felt guilty for how he reacted. He didn't think he'd feel this way when he had suggested it.

-Thoma, the man whined, why did you stop?

The blond was so caught up in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed his hands stop moving.

-My apologies, I got distracted, he admitted.

-Oh? By what? The commissioner inquired.

-I was just thinking about something, he said as his hands began tracing the other's back again. Ayato let out a sigh of satisfaction which made Thoma's checks flare up again. An hour later, Ayato's back was covered in the greasy substance. He groaned as Thoma removed his hands, he wanted to stay like that forever.
-Thoma, is there anything you aren't good at? the commissioner asked.
- Of course, I mean I can't be good at everything.
-Oh Thoma, Ayato chuckled, I was complimenting you. You really are good at everything.
-Oh, um thank you then... He scratched the back of his neck, flustered, oh, by the way, I prepared a bath for you. Although I think I'll have to change the water. I hope you don't mind waiting.
-Don't worry it's fine, he replied.
When Thoma came back he found Ayato half asleep on his futon.
- My Lord, you can't sleep yet, you haven't even eaten dinner.
-Oh, right, he said sleepily as he got up. Thoma walked him to his bath, afraid that he'd fall asleep on the way there.
-Should I bring your food here? Thoma asked.
-No, don't worry about it.
- All right. Then I'll go check on Ayaka.
-Thoma, wait. Could you wash me? I don't have the strength to do it myself, Ayato requested.
-Excuse me? said a flustered Thoma. Massaging him was already nerve-wracking enough, but he felt bad leaving a half-asleep Ayato here alone. So, he accepted.
-Thank you so much.
Ayato dropped his pants to the ground without warning and Thoma had to look away quickly or he'd see something he'd regret. He heard him climb into the tub and only then looked back at him. He focused on washing his silky sky-blue hair first, he ran his hand through it, admiring how soft it was. He then grabbed a cloth to wash his face and back. When he was done Thoma decided it was best to let Ayato finish.
-Well, I think you can continue on your own from here, he said looking away nervously. That's when Ayato grabbed the blond's wrist.
-Thoma... What do you think of me?
He hadn't expected such a question and was stunned for a few seconds. He glanced at Ayato, he looked so vulnerable at that moment that it made Thoma want to hug him.
-Please... be honest, he pleaded still holding onto Thoma.
-I... I guess at the beginning I thought you were quite intimidating, and I thought you hated me, but then I realized you were just being cautious, and you had your reasons. Now I think of you as the person who saved my life even though he didn't have to, Thoma said with a grin.
-I'm glad you think so, they smiled at each other, Oh, and Thoma, if there's anything you want or need just ask me, and I'll get it for you.
-I'll keep that in mind, he said happily.
-Thoma, do you mind bringing my dinner here?
