Chapter 8: Ramen

"Can i have a miso ramen please," Kakashi said to the restaurant owner, Teuchi.

"Of course!" He smiled. "And you?"

Naruto never tried ramen before so all the different toppings and broth confused him. He looked at Kakashi and wordlessly asked him to choose for him. Kakashi understood his message and asked for him, "He wants a miso ramen too."

"Alright!" He said and went to the kitchen to prepare their food.

Moments later, Teuchi served them their Miso ramen. Naruto split his chopsticks and cautiously tried his first ramen as if it was poisoned or drugged.

When he gulped down his food, a small smile crept onto his face.

"Do you like it?" Kakashi asked, already knowing his answer.

Naruto nodded with a smile still on his whiskered face and said with a hint of emotion for the first time in ages, "It's warm."

Kakashi nodded back and celebrated in his mind, 'He smiled. I was worried that he wouldn't like it but since Mito and Kushina were practically obsessed with it, it would make sense that Naruto likes it.'

The Anbu with the code name 'Money' watched over the sensei and his student peacefully eating with Naruto ordering ramen after ramen.

Soon after, Kakashi payed the expensive bill made out of his one order of ramen and Naruto's many more and let him go back to his original destination.

Naruto flickered away after thanking his sensei and quickly made his way back to the Anbu base.

Monkey also flashed away once he saw them going the opposite direction.

...

Danzo nodded at Naruto's report on his latest mission and didn't question why he was late since he would get a report on that later.

He dismissed the jinchuriki who went back to his room like always and waited for Monkey.

Right after his office door closed, the Anbu he was expecting knelt in front of him.

"Report." Danzo demands.

"Yes. The Copy Ninja offered to go out and get ramen with Kitsune..."

He continued his detailed report with Danzo listening carefully to see if letting Naruto into the light was a mistake. His Anbu kept going until one sentence caught his attention.

"Kitsune tried the ramen and said, 'It's warm.' While smiling. The Copy Ninja seemed pleased with his answer and..."

After he was done, Danzo dismissed him with anger mixed into his normal flat voice.

'So he smiled...'

Danzo was in deep thought.

'Maybe... maybe I shouldn't have accepted Hiruzen's deal.'

"Where's Naruto?" Mito asks Kakashi who arrived in a puff of smoke.

"He's not coming today." He sighed.

"Again?" Sasuke said.

"Yes," Kakashi sighed again.

"Why can Naruto skip out on these boring D-ranks but we can't?"
