For the McMurtry family, nothing went our way, it was like life hated us.
I'm Daisy McMurtry and welcome to the story of my life. I grew up without my dad as he abandoned me and my mom when I was just 3 years old, he left to be with another lady on their wedding night.
My mom has tried her best to make sure I live a good and normal life; she didn't want people to make fun of me when I was younger for not having a father but as I grew things became difficult for my mom. She had to work 2 jobs to pay the bills and provide food as well as provide me with the necessary things for school. We didn't live in a small house we actually lived in a 4-bedroom house which had a well-equipped kitchen and so much more. My mom had this thing of wanting to prove to the neighborhood that she has it all sorted in life as a single parent.
When I turned 16 years old my dad paid me a visit, he sorts of started to be a present dad in my life. It was shocking but nice to have him around, but I couldn't forget the fact that he left us so that he could be with another woman. He barely used to visit me while growing up, whenever I saw him, he would be cold and distant and never really stayed that long.
When I turned 18 years old, I took on 2 jobs, one as a salesperson at a clothing store and the other as a camp counselor on holidays because I wanted to help my mom with the bills and fill in the gap my dad had left. We lived in a neighborhood that was filled with people who were successful and most of the kids had both parents unlike me.
Just as everything seemed to work out for us, I suddenly fell ill, it started off with me just not having an appetite, to me no longer eating and spending my days eating once. It started to be a concern for my mom when I began to rapidly lose weight, my clothes didn't fit anymore and when I went for a checkup at the hospital, I discovered that I had a mental health disorder. At first it didn't make sense to me because I thought I was happy but as time went on, I started to notice that I was slowly killing myself mentally because I kept on disregarding my own feelings and lied to myself consistently.
I wasn't happy with how I look; my body was different as I was a bit overweight, I didn't have that cute petite body that all the girls had, or the small, tiny waist they had. I didn't have that cute laugh most girls had that made them feminine. I tried to ignore the fact that I am overwhelmed with stress because I took on 2 jobs just so I can help my mom with the finances. I had to go for therapy every month, I ended up being on medication to help my brain release more happy hormones and at some point, I had to be admitted to a hospital. I got better after a couple months but occasionally I would have mental breakdowns due to me still suffering mentally. During that whole healing process, I lost a considerable amount of body fat. I didn't have that small petite figure, but it was noticeable that I lost weight and the things I used to find comfort in, don't interest me anymore.
I had to change my whole wardrobe but kept my hoodies, luckily my father helped, he was trying to be a father, but I couldn't just forgive him for what he did to my mom. He helped my mom with the hospital bills and sent money for me to buy new clothes. I just wish he was able to visit me when I was in the hospital but every time he was out with his new family, taking them on vacations and trips. He wasn't present when I was suffering severely from my mental health problems.
He was a wealthy man that's why he was able to do all these things and his new wife was also wealthy, guess that's why he left my mom. Wealthy people belong together.
It was time for me to head out, my summer vacation starts now. I went downstairs and walked to the kitchen, expecting my mom there but she wasn't
She must be busy
I sighed out softly and just took my car keys, with my bags in hand and went outside to my car. I had a pretty car, my dad knew how to pick cars, he bought me an Audi S8 that was about $90 000. It was a decent gift, but it almost felt like he was trying to buy my love.
"Bye mom I'm heading out!" I said to make her aware I'm leaving but she said nothing. She must be mad that I agreed to getting an allowance of 3000 dollars every month from my father, firstly that allowance is like a salary, like if he's able to do so with me i wonder how wealthy is he. She really hated him and his guts but he was trying his best to be a father and I wasn't going to let my mother stop me from having a relationship with my father.
I went out the house and packed my things in my car before I made my journey to the camp grounds. Before I left I looked at my neighbour's house.
The billionaire Greek god Eric Dawson lived there. He was the hottest guy here, he and his friends were the hottest actually and pretty popular at school. For some reason their families made them attend a public school when they could go to private schools but I wasn't going to dig into people's business.
I would admit he's pretty hot I just hated him, his friends used to bully me, Eric and his other friend Andrew did nothing to me but they would usually laugh or call me fat while Regina and Melanie would pull my hair and call me names everyday. They liked picking on the younger kids but then they left for varsity and I was happy. I didn't see them ever again well most of them, I would see Eric and Andrew from time to time since I'm neighbor's with Eric.
Why is Eric the Greek god? Well because he was different, he looked like a guy that came right out of a fictional story. He had beautiful green eyes that could egnite a fire in anyone's soul, brunette hair that matched his flawless smile. He was perfect, he was like a fictional character that was brought to life, everything about him was just to die for. He had a chiselled jaw, a well defined jawline, well built body, like he was a total hunk.
He was basically everyone's dream man, he knew he was gorgeous, he knew he was good looking and he was popular. Not only because of his looks but also because he was such a great basketball player, he was the star of this city. He was tall, good looking, athletic, muscular and rich, his name just spelled out "I'm perfect"
I knew all about him and what I can say is his family is so calm, I've never heard them yell or shout. When one is mad they just leave the house, drive for some fresh air then come back calm.
I shook my head realising I was staring for too long and drove away to the camp grounds
"I wonder what age group I'm getting this time"
