¤ Chapter 7

Nate was in the storage room, storing laptops and printers that had just arrived with Lily. Lily was just an administration department staff at first, but then she was in charge of storage to replace Emma who was on maternity leave.

"Could you please prepare the two PC units that came yesterday? Jay's customer asked for the memory to be added," said Nate to Lily.

"Okay. I'll prepare the memory," replied Lily who then went out to the storage cupboard.

Nate brought the files up to the first floor by a different flight of stairs. There was another staircase at the back which is closer to the administration department room.

"Oh, there you are."

Nate who was climbing the stairs immediately looked up. Her heart was beating fast against her will when she saw Keith walking towards her.

"I'm looking for you everywhere. Devi said you were in the storage room so I was about to go after you," said Keith as he headed down the stairs to meet Nate.

"What's wrong?" asked Nate, feeling both pleased and anxious to hear that Keith was looking for her.

"I'm going to Mr Paul for weekly reports. I told him that you'll come with me."

Nate's mouth opened in surprise. "Meet Mr Paul?"

Nate immediately panicked. She had never met the boss in person. Sometimes she could only hear Mr Paul's voice came from his office. Devi once said that he was indeed quite strict when it came to work, but he was quite fun when interacting outside.

After that, Nate went to Mr Paul's office on the second floor with Keith. Apparently, meeting with Mr Paul wasn't as scary as Nate might think, although she certainly didn't talk much. Keith provided a report on marketers' performance last week and the projects they were working on for this week. Mr Paul also asked if Nate was having difficulty at work.

"Oh right. I also want to ask your permission to take Matilda to meet the anti-virus company that I told you about yesterday," said Keith to Mr Paul. "The marketers will definitely ask her about the new released product later if they want to sell it to their customers. So, I think she needs to know about the product herself."

"Go ahead. You have a lot to teach her," replied Mr Paul.

Nate was both tense and excited when she heard that she was going with Keith. Uh—it wasn't the part of going out with Keith that excited her, but the fact that she was finally going out on duty. Harry once said that a procurement staff must establish a good relationships with suppliers. So, Nate would be in more direct contact with them in the future.

"It's a great opportunity for you to develop a connection," said Julian as Nate told him about the meeting plans. "Who are you going with?"

"Um... with the marketing coordinator in my company," replied Nate, again, hiding the fact that the marketing coordinator was the same handsome man who had driven her home the other day.

"Make sure you learn a lot. Didn't you say you're replacing the senior procurement?"

Julian caressed Nate's hair who then rested her head on his shoulder. Nate slipped her fingers between Julian's and felt the warmth of his large hand. It was the first time they had enjoyed a movie night together, because they had never been able to be this intimate while they were still living with Nate's parents. Julian would talk to Dad more often and would just go into the bedroom to sleep.

Julian's phone on the table suddenly went off, indicating an incoming message. Julian grabbed his phone and opened it. Nate also glanced at the screen.
