Nate woke up to her hair being caressed. She tried to open her heavy eyelid. She vaguely saw Julian in front of her.

"What's the matter?" asked Nate, closing her eyes again. She couldn't sleep last night because of her guilt towards Keith so she felt drowsy.

"Wake up now. Let's get going." Julian was still caressing Nate's hair.

Nate squinched her eyes. "Where to?"

"Hanging out, as well as celebrating our wedding anniversary."

"Huh? Isn't that still..." Nate closed her eyes again, trying to get her brain to wake up and start working. "I don't know. Next week?"

"What's the big deal? It's just a date."

Nate opened her eyes just as Julian reached over and kissed her forehead. He was wearing a black shirt with white stripes and black trousers. Nate was sure he wouldn't just take her for a stroll to the park. Nate tried to keep her lips from rising when she saw Julian's neatly cut hair. Somehow little things like that were enough to make her happy.

Nate changed into a white blouse and skirt. Julian smiled as he watched her put on her shoes.

"What?" asked Nate.

"Skirt for me, huh?" Julian muttered as he turned to walk out of the bedroom.

Nate followed Julian to the car with a frown. She left her mobile phone at home, just in case Keith would called her while she was with Julian.

"Where are we going?" Nate asked, while Julian driving his car.

"Date." Julian replied.

Nate glared at him. "I'm serious."

"I feel bad for not letting you go to Edinburgh, so I'm taking you on a trip. The place is as beautiful as Edinburgh, you will surely like it," said Julian. "Aunt Fanny also invited us to lunch tomorrow."

Nate flabbergasted. "So, we're going to Newport? Why didn't you tell me earlier? I didn't bring any clothes!"

"We can buy it later."

Nate immediately thought of Keith. She regretted not bringing her mobile phone with her. What if Keith texted her while she's unable to be reached at the moment? What if it upsets him even more? Nate kept looking out the window a whole ride there so she wouldn't have to talk to Julian.

After almost three hours, they finally arrived in Wales. Nate marveled at the view of the Brecon Beacons National Park stretching out before her. Julian parked his car in front of a cottage and invited Nate inside.

"It was really hard to book this place, so I purposely moved our vacation a week ahead," said Julian.

It was a two-story private cottage. There was a sitting room with couches and television, a kitchen along with a dining area, and a toilet downstairs. Then, there were two bedrooms upstairs, each room was equipped with a large bed. There was also one bathroom with a shower and a bathtub.

"I'll sleep in this room," said Nate, pointing to the room on the right.

"What do you talking about? Are we going to sleep separately?" asked Julian.

"Isn't that why you rented a two-room cottage?"

"That's because this is the only cottage available."

Nate ignored him and went to open the bedroom window that faced the back garden. She found a round table with two chairs on the terrace. It wasn't a big cottage, but it was very comfortable, and it was surrounded by hills. She even could see mountains in the distance. Nate immediately fell in love with the place.
