The tall blonde was soundly asleep on his couch when the first frantic knock appeared. He slowly opened his eyes, stretching his arms out as he sat up, when again another round of frantic knocking hit his door. He rubbed his eyes as he made his way toward his front door.
He became confused when he opened the door only to find no one there. He looked up and down the street of his neighborhood, yet again no one. He figured it was some 12 year-old 'prankster' playing ding dong ditch with his friends. As he went to close his door that's when he heard it; the soft sniffle and whine of a child. Startled, he looked down onto his doorstep to see a woven basket holding a baby girl inside. She was wrapped in a soft pink blanket, green eyes looking up at him curiously. She seemed to be only a month old, maybe less.
He had watched enough movies to understand what was happening. This poor child was left on his doorstep, unwanted and unloved. He scanned his front yard and once again no one in sight. He carefully picked up the basket, closed the door, and set the basket back down on his coffee table. It was then when he saw the wrinkled blue note attached to the front of the basket. He swiftly untapped the note and sat down on his couch, looking back up at the now sleeping baby.
Dear resident(s),
First let me start off saying that I am truly and deeply sorry for doing this to you, however my child needs a home, a beautiful life that I can not fulfill. She needs someone to guide and love her. I do hope that you can raise my child and take her in as your own, to give her the best life she could possibly have. I beg of you to love her unconditionally. Please, fill her life to the fullest intent, for she deserves more than this world can offer. Please welcome Penelope to your home with open arms.
Sincerely,
An unforgivable parentHe wiped a tear from his eye as he looked at the peaceful child. How could someone want to give up their own child? He was sad for this poor baby, her own parent giving her away, to a complete stranger at that. It was at that moment that he knew what he had to do. He had to keep this precious little girl and give her the best life imaginable, full of love and happiness.
He sipped his finger into her hand, her clutching it tightly in her sleep. As he whispered "Welcome home, Penelope." He gently caressed her delicate porcelain face with his other hand. "I'm Luke, your daddy, and I'm going to make sure you grow up to be a strong and beautiful young lady."
A/N: I've only played ding dong ditch once with my cousins, during which an old man chased me down the street with a baseball bat. (No one was hurt) Anyway, I hope your liking the story, I'm really exited!
