hello my loves! i asked on my conversations tab recently for your opinions on me creating a book of chaelisa oneshots, and you said yes!! so, i thought what better way to start the collection than with a oneshot in honour of rosé's birthday - as it is the 11th of february after all  :> happy 26th birthday to my absolute ult bias, the queen herself

Her birthday morning's sunrise shone softly through her sheer day curtains, painting Roseanne's slightly messed and tangled blonde hair in an auburn radiance as she rolled over in her bed. Cozy content was coursing through her body after what felt like a great night's sleep, and she was looking forward to cuddling with her girlfriend, Lisa, before finally getting up when their a million 'five more minutes' ran out.

But as she outstretched a lazy arm in front of her, the 'Lisa' that it was supposed to fall on was nowhere to be found, leaving her arm to flop flatly on the empty space beside her, and her eyes to shoot wide open. Where was she?

Chaeyoung turned over to lie supinely once more as she tried to locate the black haired girl. Her eyes roamed the room from their messy desks, to the ajar closet door and her pastel pink electric guitar laying in the corner, before meeting her own perplexed reflection in the mirror parallel to the bed. But nowhere to be found, her heartbeat begun to hasten.

Roseanne tried to think of why on earth Lisa wasn't here right now. Today was her birthday, and they always made it a point to have extra cuddles before waking up. Furthermore, it was an ordinary Saturday, which meant they hadn't any work to do, any errands to run, any people to meet. As far as her fuzzy (now further frazzled) morning memory was concerned there wasn't any reason for her not to be there. So why wasn't she here?

And that's when she noticed the smell. Inhaling deeply in an attempt to calm herself down, there was an evident note of smoke breaths she took, like something was burnt. In addition, there seemed to be a stream of grey haze wafting slowly into the room from under the door. like that something was still burning - or even worse, her and Lisa's apartment had caught on fire!

Smoke creeping into the room, her apartment potentially on fire, and having no idea where Lisa was? Those three thoughts were enough to wake her groggy self right up, and have her bolting out of the room.

"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit," was the only thought running through Lisa's mind as she frantically dumped the burnt bacon rashers into the bin, "this is not going how I wanted it to at all."

Praying she'd be able to sort all this out before Chaeyoung woke up, she rushed to open the  window and air out the smoke, but as she returned to the kitchen, she recognised it was too late. Her poor girlfriend was standing in shock behind the haze, still in her pyjamas with her hair clearly not brushed. "Love, I'm so sorry I can explain-"

Stopping Chaeyoung in her tracks was their dining table decked out in a baby blue tablecloth, confetti spread all across it, two gorgeous bundles of metallic balloons, a small pile of gifts, a bunch of fresh roses, and most importantly, the most adorable birthday cake with the words "happy birthday rosie" written across the top.

In her right mind this would have had her smiling until her cheek muscles hurt, but with her tranquil resting state being forced into fight-or-flight mode without warning, when adding the sight of Lisa rushing towards her from the window, bursting into overwhelemed tears was the only expression of her emotions she could muster.
