Recently, Lisa had noticed Chaeyoung had been seeming somewhat detached from her. Or irritable? Or annoyed? Or just like she didn't want to spend as much time with the younger as before.
Before, after she'd had a long day at work, Lisa would always be able to go home to having kisses peppered all over her, and questions about how she was doing, and how was her day. Before, when they were watching a show on TV she'd always be able to lose her hands in Roseanne's soft blonde hair.
But now, when she turned around to ask Chaeyoung to taste the cooking she'd been working so hard on (since she still wasn't very good at it), she'd be met with an empty living room to realise her girlfriend was keeping to herself upstairs.
And she had no idea why. She hadn't been doing anything different, saying anything different or treating her any different. Whenever she could she'd always try to be with Rosie, because wasn't that what a good girlfriend was supposed to do?
♥
Tonight was February 13th, another Monday that was a slog for both girls, since the first day of the week also happened to be their least favourite.
And so, Chaeyoung was finally allowing herself to relax after much hard work, on the couch to watch some TV.
Lisa had just prepared herself a warm mug of her favourite drink, red ginseng. Except it was a new brand this time, which had made her extra excited. Seeing her girlfriend alone on the couch, Lisa thought she'd better head over there so the older would have some company.
"Hey love~" she placed a gentle kiss to Roseanne's temple before sitting down on the couch beside her.
"Hi," was the sharp reply Lisa received in return.
The tightness in her girlfriend's tone lately was extremely obvious to the younger, however the level of tension in this short answer had Lisa's eyes widening in worry for a split second. Nevertheless, she assumed that Roseanne was probably just having a bad day. Mondays sucked for both of them, with early rises and late returns home. And so she decided against asking if anything was wrong, instead bringing her attention back to her ginseng.
Silence for a moment. Before Lisa spoke again.
"Oh my gosh... this ginseng is so good!"
Chaeyoung forced a small laugh without looking over to face her girlfriend.
"Seriously, it's really delicious. You know Jisoo unnie recommended this brand to me? Gosh, I'll have to go get some more."
Roseanne begun to feel her jaw clench in annoyance. Lately it felt like Lisa just wouldn't stop talking to her!
Lisa took another long sip, that in Rosie's irritability, felt obnoxiously loud. "Ugh, it tastes so yummy! Jisoo is literally a saint for this. I wonder who told her about it?"
As much as she tried to keep her focus glued to the TV screen, she just couldn't concentrate anymore. Monday had already been awful, she'd had to spend all day at work with Lisa, and now that she finally got the opportunity to do something for herself, Lisa couldn't just be quiet! She was almost like a parasite, or a tick, just- glued to their host and they wouldn't let go! As much as she'd tried to keep her emotions in check, supress her irritability in the hopes it would eventually blow over, the rage was rapidly building up inside her. Like a balloon that was about to pop. Like a bomb that was about to detonate.
