Vi decides to gently knock on the door of his office, but before she does, she overhears Micah on the phone with a woman.

"Agent M, as your boss this is very inappropriate!" Micah exclaimed.

"Why don't you look at me the way you used to anymore, huh?!?! I've apologized to you so many times for what I did, yet you shut me out completely. Don't you want me anymore? You loved me! You always told me you loved the way I tasted, the way I said your name!", the woman bemoaned.

The woman slurred her speech as she spoke to Micah.

Vi carefully opened the door and made her way in quietly as she began to worry.

"Your absurd behavior and lack of responsibility, in this case, has set us back completely. Months of hard work out the door due to your carelessness!", he seethed.

Vi got closer to the plate-glass window where Micah stood in front.

She attempted to place the coffee on his desk gently but unintentionally bumped into one of the chairs placed in front of his desk.

The sound of the chair lightly scraping the wooden floor and drew Micah's attention, prompting him to turn abruptly.

"Vi...what are you doing here? It's late.", he said, trying to compose himself.

"Is that another one of your whores visiting you late at night?" the woman on the phone said mockingly.

Micah froze in place, clenching his jaw.

"You can insult me all you want but I will NOT tolerate the way you speak of her. As of tonight, you will be reported to HR and transferred to a different office." Micah fumed and hung up the phone.

He inhaled deeply through his nose and exhaled furiously, loosening his tie.

"I'm sorry you had to hear that, I've been having problems with her." he sighed.

"It's okay. I just wanted to drop off some coffee for you. You stormed off rather quickly. Is everything okay?" she asked as she looked at Micah with a worried face.

He noticed drops of water running down her neck and into her blouse.

"Did you run over here in the rain?!?!" he blurted, placing his coat over her. Her skin was cold to the touch.

He carried a chair over to his electric heater and sat her down. Minutes went by in silence as he wiped the droplets of water off her.

"Maybe he doesn't want to talk about the situation between him and the woman on the phone. His silence feels deafening."

He kneeled down in front of her, firmly holding her hands together in between his, attempting to keep them warm.

"He gently cupped my hands into his. I could feel his lips brush against my fingertips as he exhaled, transferring heat to me."

Vi felt her face fluster at the touch of his soft lips.

"You need to take better care of yourself or you'll get sick," he murmured, keeping his gaze down at her soaked shoes.

"I could see his scar clearer than ever now. It must have been really painful for him."

Without realizing it, Vi traced the scar on Micah's eyebrow gently as her thoughts took over carelessly.
