The magic circle disappeared, just as the glowing figure revealed itself under the moon. That very same kitsune who appeared in Ami's dream, clothed in a long white kimono and moonlit jewels. Her silver eyes glowed with just as much luminosity as the bright beacon of a moon. A barely audible, animalistic growl escaped her lips as she stared down at Masuyo like a giant predator to its prey.
"G-great Kami of t-the moon..." Amaterasu stuttered, as she slumped down on her front paws in a deep bow. "Great Kami of the moon... Please... please forgive us..."
All of Masuyo's four eyes widened, despite not standing the bright light emanating from the moon right above the fountain. "Such otherworldly lunar power has arrived... This is no ordinary creature. This... is a divine being of the heavens."
Then came chilling words from the Moon Queen. "Masuyo. Stop this madness, right now!"
Just about everyone around the fountain shuddered just as those last words of her voice rang out like the call of one of the most powerful Kami there was. The Royal Guards all slowly lowered their weapons, knowing well that the Kami figure would aid them, and was no enemy whatsoever. Lilie took several steps back, holding both Malorie and Hana's paws in each of her own, trembling slightly and her tail tucked behind like a cowering dog. Her sapphire eyes were widened and stuck on seeing the Moon Queen in all her divine and frightening beauty, which could not compare to any other spirit who was once a mortal being just like she was.
I know her... Emiko thought to herself. This spirit was the one who kept visiting me. It's astounding to see her outside of a dream... She looked around, only to feel something indescribable whirling through her body, from the tips of her huge ears to the toes of her paws. Time seems to have stopped here. She shivered. Oh Gods... this must mean Masuyo is powerful enough to warp time and reality... She looked down at Ami and Emi, who stood next to her own two feet, who were just as in awe and afraid at the same time. The fur on their pelts stood up, making their tails appear like cattails in the wind.
Both the twins looked at each other for a brief second, then back at the Moon Queen.
"Who... is that?" Emi asked weakly. "I don't know if I recognise her... at least, not that I know of."
"Emi, that's... Elizabeth. Former Folklorist, as she's known here. Remember her?"
Emi's chest heaved for a bit, just as she tried to get herself to calm down. "I just can't believe she's dead now..."
Masuyo flattened her ears just as she stared at the kitsune Kami. Her voice became a low rumble. "Well, well, well... A tenshi, trying to interfere in this fight to the death." She clenched all her clawed paws in fists and flattened her ears. "I know why you're here, you pompous six-winged imbecile. You don't scare me. Don't even think about making me bow to you just because not only were you once a queen back then, but you are a Kami of high status."
"I would not expect you to be afraid of me, unlike those other nightmares who dared to face me. But enough of this nonsense. It is time your relentless behaviour be put to an end."
"'Other nightmares', you say? Well, I for one am a nightmare much too powerful for your blessings from the deities to take me down. Your imperative orders like that of a monarch, which I was, won't even try to stop me."
"You cannot be too sure, Queen Masuyo," the Moon Queen said as she remained completely still as an ivory statue. "Besides, you will soon see yourself be taken aback to the shadowy valley if you do not cease this impudent pandemonium, you hear me?" Her eyes, especially with their silvery-blue shade, gave an icy stare just as she said these words. "Listen to the one who is a true Kami, unlike you."
