Later that night Celine and Kaia were getting ready for bed in their room.
Kaia sighed, “I can’t help but feel uneasy about what Vania has said to Orano.”
“I know,” Celine agreed, “it seems all too familiar…”
“I want to try to talk some sense into him. Will you come with me?” Kaia asked.
“Of course.”
The two girls slipped out of the room and down the hall to where Orano was staying. It appeared he was already fast asleep.
“This seems way to familiar,” Celine commented.
“What does?” Kaia questioned.
“Waking someone in the middle of the night to warn them of a girl. It’s almost the exact same situation Lloyd and I found ourselves in all those years ago in Shintaro,” Celine spoke remorsefully.
“Well, let’s hope the outcome is different this time.”
The girls proceeded into Orano’s room and Kaia quickly shook him awake.
“Hmm? What’s going on?” Orano asked groggily.
“We need to talk,” Kaia answered.
“Listen to me Orano, don’t trust Vania,” Celine spoke firmly. “Trust me on this one, she’s evil.”
“How would you know that?” Orano shot back.
“Because when we were in Shintaro fighting the Skull Sorcerer she tried to kill me. Not to mention she was in league with the Skull Sorcerer the whole time. She knew everything, and she contributed to the rise of the Overlord by continuing to sell vengestone to Harumi.”
“Celine, that was years ago, she’s changed,” Orano protested.
“You don’t know that.”
“And you don’t know that she hasn’t changed. Maybe if you gave her the chance, you’d see,” Orano responded angrily.
“Fine, if you don’t want to listen to me, then you can reap the consequences,” Celine snapped. Abruptly, she turned and left the room.
“Really, Orano?” Kaia reprimanded, “We’re just trying to help.”
“And I’m just trying to sleep. Now please leave me alone.” With that, Orano rolled over away from his sister.
Kaia rolled her eyes and followed Celine back to their room.
As the girls sat in their beds, Kaia spoke up again, “Is it just me, or is Morro acting weird lately?”
Celine thought for a minute, “Maybe, but I don’t know. I haven’t known him for very long… Can we talk about it in the morning? I’m really tired from dealing with Vania all day.”
“Yeah, that’s fine,” Kaia responded, slipping down in her covers. Within minutes the girls were asleep. But Celine only lasted a few minutes before footsteps in the room woke her.
She lay very still in bed, listening closely as the steps made their way past her bed and close to Kaia’s. Without another thought, Celine jumped up and onto whoever was in the room.
“KAIA TURN ON A LIGHT!” Celine yelled.
Kaia started awake and turned on a beside lamp. On the floor, pinned under by Celine, was Vania, a dagger in her hands.
