...But the end never came...A black blur tore across the runway, killing everything in its path.
It scooped Weiss into its shadowy emrace and ran to me.
Do I fight back?
?: "Hold her." It ordered, handing her body to me.
It attached its black guantlet to my arm and turned to fight once more.
I made to question the circumstance, but we were suddenly yanked to the side. Flying over legion's bounding towards the shadow.
We landed with a hard thump, and maybe a bruised rib.
Explosions ripped up the runway, setting a bright landscape as the shadow jumped atop the heads of charging Acolytes.
It bounded high into the air, blocking out the moon for a moment.
When its heel came down, fire combusted from its feet, slaying all the Hive in the vicinity.
Maybe 40 of them.
The door to the command wing was locked tight. All I could do was bang and scream.
Weiss began to stir. Eyes fluttering as she groaned in pain.
I turned back to see the shadow form a bloody sword from his palm, and slice through Thrall like they were made of paper.
A Knight stomped ahead, swinging his weapon with intent to kill.
Jaune deployed his shield, and deflected the attack into a Thrall next to him.
As he passed the recovering Knight, he slapped an explosive on his back. Blood seeped from the triangle, crawling over the Hive fighter's body.
He disappeared in a cloud of flame and smoke. Blood fountained high in the sky, splashing outwards.
Jaune used his shield like an umbrella, a translucent barrier emanating from the edges of the black and gold armament.
The pitter-patter of the red rain reminded me of stormy Patch nights.
Violent screaming tore me from the trance.
Fortunate that Jaune is freakishly fast. Otherwise Weiss and I would be melting right now.
"W-where were you?"
No malice or malcontent. Worried for my friend.
Jaune: "Making a new scarecrow." He answered simply.
Swiftly, he spun and fired three homing bolts of fire that burned out an Ogre's kneecaps. It collapsed, squishing several Thrall.
Jaune: "Take this!" He said, handing me a black, oval-shaped box.
"What is it!?" I asked, flipping the thing like a madwoman.
Jaune: "It'll burn through the door!"
They came from every side and he kept cutting them down. Three more replaced the fallen.
Jaune: "Stick it and slap the shit out of it!"
"What, why?!"
Jaune: "Because the Cabal didn't intend it for Human use!"
"How'd you get it?!"
Jaune: "Does that really matter right now?!"
Turning his back, an Acolyte wielding a curved blade made to impale him.
