"I still can't believe it." Marilyn mutters, looking over at her curly headed boyfriend.

"Believe what?" He mutters back.

Marilyn shakes her head. "You're my boyfriend. Last year we absolutely hated eachothers guts and now you're my boyfriend." She speaks, and Vance chuckles, shaking his head.

"Now that you say it like that. It does sound unbelievable. Imagine what everyone else thinks, though." He says, and Marilyn nods in agreement.

He had a point. The last time everyone else but those core people saw the two, they were trying to kill each other. Now that they're back, they're closer than ever. Everyone must be so confused. If even Marilyn and Vance can't grasp the thought themselves, there's no way the rest of Denver could do it. Well, not fast, at least. It's an odd concept to think about honestly. The juxtaposition of it all is uncanny.

"They'll have to deal with it, though." Vance speaks up, breaking the girl from her thoughts.

"Why's that." Her teasing voice replies.

"Y'know, I'm not into the sappy shit like flowers and chocolate and shit. Or even saying weird shit like, 'I won't let anyone hurt you because you're my girlfriend.' Because that's disgusting. But—" Vance sighs, and Marilyn smirks, raising an eyebrow at the boy with a teasing glint in her eyes.

"But?" She drags, waiting for him to finish.

Vance can't even look her in the eyes when he speaks his next words, too disgusted in himself that he was even able to think such sappy shit.

"But for you? I'd do it all. All the sappy shit. Get you flowers and chocolate with the money I don't have, write disgustingly girly notes to you in class, and wear this absolutely amazing bracelet until the day I die. Because that's how much you mean to me, Marilyn Kate. That's how much you meant to me." He speaks, and Marilyn was left in shock.

Even Vance himself was shocked by his own words. He thought he had scripted a much more vague way to speak it, but what came out of his mouth weren't the words trapped in his mind. It was the words trapped in his heart. His heart, which once was locked up, the key buried too deep to reach. The key that Marilyn somehow managed to dig up and use it to unlock how he truly felt.

Marilyn is quick to reach up and capture his lips in her own, Vance not hesitating to return the favor as they both sink into the moment surrounding them.

The kiss was slow, as if they had all the time in the world for it. Both their hearts pounding like it was their first time. Only this wasn't their first time kissing. It was merely Vances' first time speaking words, even Marilyn wouldn't be able to speak. Showing his full vulnerability and affection towards the girl.

But sadly, things don't last forever. And the pair had to eventually pull apart, their chests heaving from holding their breaths for too long.

Marilyn looks into Vances' bright blue eyes, a soft smile on both of their faces.

"I love you." She whispers, and Vances smile brightens, just like the first time she had spoken the words.

"I love you more." He whispers, and Marilyn shakes her head with a smile.

"Loser." She mutters, and Vance laughs before a knock sounds at the door, causing the two of them to quickly bounce away from each other.

"Beep, beep. Franklyn has entered the room, and everyone better be decent, or death might not be so far away." Marilyns dad singsongs, opening the door with his eyes covered by his hands.

Marilyn laughs before grabbing a pillow and launching it at her father.

"Whatever, dad. We're decent." She speaks, and Franklyn lets out an exaggerated sigh before dropping his hand from his eyes.
