The first day of freshman year, it's nerve racking for everyone. The day you struggle to find your classes and open your locker. The day where you have to find a group to sit with. The day you have to learn to fit in. But he stood out.

He walked in my first class, math. The teacher was explaining what were going to need for the class and what we were going to learn. Unlike most students who were writing nervously or talking to old friends, he was sleeping. He was so confident for being new. I felt so small sitting at a small desk with small understanding of the world. We had one thing in common, a cup of coffee sitting on our desk.

As the day went on the coffee drained like my energy. I have two other classes with the hazel eyed boy, English and science. I also have lunch with him. He sat across the room in all of my classes and lunch. I did learn his name. It's Chance. I tried to forget it but he made me feel a certain way. The kind where you don't know if you want to be a person or be around them. I want to get closer to him but that would mean I would have to learn to speak. I don't think I will ever get the courage to do that.

When I get home I walked into my cold, dark room and fell face first into my bed. I listened to the fan and relaxed. Lonely but free I guess.

Why is it all so tiring?
