Chapter 1: Different
Everyday is a Cycle, and everyday I try to break the cycle,
but I can't

I heard a loud beeping near my ear as I struggled to open my eyes, sunlight shined through the curtains.

I got up out of bed to go into the same cycle.
Wake up, go to work and sleep. I sighed as I started my usual routine. Something was different about today, I was late I had overslept. I hurried up and started my car. I arrived at the coffee shop where I worked. I saw a familiar face, it was William my coworker. "Hi William" I muttered. "Good morning y/n" he replied happily, as usual. It was kind of annoying how he was always so happy, I couldn't find a reason to hate him but I did.

The first customer walked in, she had brown hair and hazel eyes. "Hurry up and get me a small latte" she demanded, people were always like this but worse. This woman was considered decent most people would usually insult us, we didn't get tips often either.

Customers walked in and out and I almost repeated actions, it was 1:24pm and I was about to have a break in 6 minutes. I heard the bell around the door handle ring. I looked up to see a guy who was at least 6ft, he had greasy blue hair which looked like he hadn't washed it in a while. He also had nice eyes, they were dark brown. He looked like he was going to an interview, he was wearing a suit. Also his hair was up, his shoes looked like they were recently polished.

"Hello.." he paused for a second to read my name tag on my work uniform, "Hello y/n, could I please get a large espresso" his voice sounded familiar."Sure, anything else?" I asked "No thank you".  I started the coffee machine and talked to him while waiting.  "Why're you wearing a suit?" I asked,  "I had to do a speech I'm trying to become a part of the city council" he replied.  "Oh cool" I said back to him.  "Here you are.. sir" I handed him his coffee,  "You can just call me Kai" he remarked. He left a 7$ tip, wow.. he was nice. He waved and left, I waved back of course. So many people were rude these days so it was so refreshing to see someone different.

As the clock's hand moved to the six it showed that it was 1:30pm. I left the store for my break and went to a nearby park to sit on a bench. But I saw someone that I recognized from the store. It was Kai, I felt relieved but anxious I would embarrass myself.

He walked over and sat down next to me and started a conversation. We talked about almost anything and everything we were both interested in, we talked about politics and family problems. I had learned his parents were dead, his mother had shot herself and his father, he had a sister and a brother. I looked down at my watch. Before I knew it, it was almost 2:30pm.  "shit.. I'm so sorry Kai my break ended 30 minutes ago I really sorry, I can't miss work" I apologised hoping he wouldn't hate me. "Sorry y/n I hope I can see you soon" he handed me a small piece of paper with a phone number.

He walked away as I stood there for a bit, I felt like everything had changed now I had another reason to live. Kai made me feel adrenaline, in a good way. He made me feel more alive, I went inside to start my shift.

I mindlessly went through my shift. He was all I could think about, the thought of having this boring cycle suddenly change excited me.  "y/n your shift ended an hour ago" Rose, the manager yelled from across the room not paying attention to the customers.

"I'm sorry I just-" "Not good enough, come back tomorrow but fix your attitude".
I tried my best, I picked up my bag and opened the door hearing the annoying bell ring, I just wanted to rip it off.

As I started walking to my car I saw a figure, at least 6ft. There he was, no not Kai. Someone else, William staring at his phone. His head suddenly looked towards me. "Hey y/n, do you need someone to drive you home?".

"no thank you" I replied. Why not y/n?It-" he was interrupted, "I said no thank you.. what's your problem?" I snapped. "women these days.." William whispered under his breath. "men these days" I mocked him. "fucking bitch" ,was he talking to me?!!

I stepped towards him ready to fight before I realised that probably wasn't a good idea, I slowly backed away.

I felt a sudden warmth on my arm followed by a strong pain, I felt the ache quickly grow more painful. He had grabbed my arm and started pulling me towards his car. He grabbed my other arm and pulled me closer. As I felt my eyes get more watery I realised I wasn't breathing, I gasped for air which got attention, I started to push his arm away but I was too weak. I looked around for anyone to help.

I felt as if I was being controlled I couldn't breath properly and the pain on my arms only grew more painful.

I saw a girl walking past. She had long silver hair, wore a black dress with a white collar, and she was staring at us with a confused expression. "Hey" ,his attention was brought away when he saw the girl. He tried to make it look like he was 'helping me'. "Oh.. she's just drunk" he reassured, I felt the urge to punch him..if my arms weren't restrained I would've already. The girl didn't seem to buy it, she kept looking at me with an unsure expression. "Are you okay?" she looked at me with a more worried expression, I felt unable to speak as if there was a gun to my head.

The girl looked back at the man and stood back,  "Let her go" she said calmly.  "No.. she's just drunk" he repeated, "I said Let her go" she demanded. He stared at her and continued dragging me to the car, I tried to escape but I couldn't, the pain kept growing and I could barely see with all the tears covering my eyes. I was basically using all my energy by withstanding this pain, not collapsing and continuing to try to pull myself away. Suddenly the pressure was weak and I heard a groan, the girl had kicked him.. there.

She ripped his hands off of mine and grabbed my wrist, gently. Wow.. within a few seconds nearly everything changed, I was being dragged by my co-worker William and now running with a pretty girl nearly holding my hand. My legs started to cramp and it felt like they would just fall off, I heard myself panting and gasping for breath every minute. We ran around a corner and the girl pulled up my sleeves,  "oh no, I'm sorry this looks like it will bruise" she examined my arms. I looked at my arms and saw red handprints.

She seemed so worried but I couldn't help her anyway and I was trying to keep myself from bursting out in tears. We suddenly heard footsteps and heavy breathing, the girl pulled me behind a nearby wall and peaked behind it. She said nothing she just quickly but silently put her finger to her mouth, I think she was telling me to be quiet. She held  my hand and walked me into an alleyway, I felt the pain in my arms grow numb as I just wanted to freeze and cry and run away but that wouldn't work, we walked slowly but were cautious not to made sure not to make a sound.
