"That is all for today" Sister Joy announced.
"Thank you very much"
"It's okay, do you need me to escort you to your room"
"It's all right I can find my way" Sister Joy nodded her black habit bobbing along, she turned to leave but decided against it and turned back to say something
"And Father Nicholas welcome to St Valentine Boys Academy"
Nick plastered on a fake smile inwardly shuddering at the thought of being called 'Father" or the use of the full name
"Thank you but I prefer father Nick" She nodded before leaving. Nick took a deep breath before setting out to his own personal room which was not too far from the church. Nick stared at the small apartment which looked a little cramped. There was a single bedroom with an adjoining bathroom. There was also a door which led to the closet/wardrobe, the kitchen was in no way usable but sister Joy had convinced him that all his meals would be provided for by the school.
Sister Joy was one of nuns in the school who were in charge of the well-being of the students as well guiding and monitoring them while 'father' Nick, a 29 year old priest... at least that was what the church gave him, speaking of the church, he had to call them.
Nick pulled out a burner phone, hence phones were not allowed on school grounds because it was a 'sanctuary which would not be influenced by the ways of the world' as sister Joy said herself; the phone rang for a bit before it was picked "Nick" Nicholas recognized the voice of Father Patrick, his sect leader.
"I have arrived at the school and everything seems to be... normal"
"We both know that Father Alonzo is never wrong, so the faster you get this done the sooner you come back" With that father Patrick disconnected. Nicholas sighed for the umpteenth time again.
Father Alonzo is the head of the church in Madrid, he has insights on where there are possessions so he sends in the exorcists who had been trained by the church, Nicholas Santiago being one of them and this was apparently his second exorcism assignment but this time he was by himself in this strange country, town and school.
Nick felt a headache forming as he continued to think so decided to take a shower and sleep on time seeing his work officially began the next day.
The heat wasn't the only thing that woke Nicholas in the night, he cursed softly after he realized he had completely left all the windows shut, he quickly opened them up and at last the stuffy air had totally dissapitated but that was the least of his worries at the moment.
Nicholas stared at the closet door as soft squeaky noises was heard behind it, Nicholas knew it was neither his imagination nor him bring paranoid because the only sound in the small house was the sound of the useless fan spinning. Armed with blessed water and his bible, he muttered verses in Gaelic as he approached the door and opened it quickly and of course a small mouse quickly scurried to hide in a corner. Nick rolled his eyes and took that paranoia part back and he reminded himself to ask sister Joy for a mousetrap... if they had one.
Umm this is not really my style of writing because I cannot on my life write something that has a huge plot twist, scary villains or even mystery so don't pick a fight with me.
