Earth - 1934

One trait all animals share, people included: no matter where we are or where we wish to be, if we're there longer than a day, we try to make a home of it.

My father was a earnest man. He was quiet most of the time, but when it came to defending something he loved, it was like a dragon would awaken in his soul.

The small town in which we lived near hardly ever got any new settlers, but travelers would come and go seemingly at every hour of the day.

I was doing my chores outside when I seen three men on horses ride over to the house. Father was away in the fields working, leaving mother and I alone.

I watched as the three men got off their horses and went into the house while I forked hay over to our cattle.

After a few minutes I heard a shot go off in the house and the sound of mother screaming.

Without thinking I ran over to the house and burst into the doors to find the men holding mother down with a gun to her head.

When they seen me, I quickly ran back out of the house and grabbed two of their horses.

I jumped on the back of one and tugged the other along so that the men didn't have any mounts to run away on.

When I arrived in the fields, I screamed like a lunatic that escaped an asylum until I found my father

When I arrived in the fields, I screamed like a lunatic that escaped an asylum until I found my father.

I heard some of the women in town say that whenever my father found them he strung them up and lynched them. The nuns at the church told me that he caught them and handed them over to the authorities so they could be trialed before a court of law.

I wasn't dumb, I knew what he had really done, because I watched him do it.

Anyone with common sense could have seen that his anger and burning passion, was what drove him to protect his family from those men... and the only way he knew how was by putting a bullet between their eyes.

Pandora - 2170

The new serums burned your veins. It burned so bad it felt like your skin was melting off your bones.

Your throat began to close off as you screamed in agony. You couldn't breath, and your lungs felt like they were being inflated like a balloon.

"Fucking bastards!" You managed to scream out before they started to inject the second serum into your other arm.

You were being held down by metal restrains that didn't melt or burn away as flames spilled from your fingertips.

The second serum wasn't as bad as the first, but it still burned like hellfire.

After the burning had subsided and your throat opened back up, they managed to get your vitals back to normal.

The only catch was, you felt like you were suffocating now.
