Chapter 3
"You did what?"
Riya was shaking badly, trying hard not to laugh out loud, resulting in her choking on her own words. She was still inside her office. "That's perfect."
"Not as easy as it sounds."
Ahana's smile turned upside down. Increasing her pace, she strolled quickly towards the end of the path until she came face to face with the words Heritage High - Wing B. Puffing slightly, she muttered to her cell phone screen.
"He is such an arse."
"Woah, woah. Who are you, and what have you done with my sweet Ahana?"
She froze, realizing what she had just said. Awareness filled up her features as she asked softly, almost pleadingly. "Please, pray for me."
"Will do! My work isn't anything like yours. My boss is a lazy bone and an excuse master. Good thing you are not here."
"I take it you are enjoying your internship."
"You bet!" She flashed a broad smile. Ahana let out an exasperated huff before ending the conversation.
She tucked her phone away in her pockets and put the lunchbox inside the bag. With that done, she quickly made her way to the lobby. Her lunch break was over in a flash. She was grateful for Nurse Pia's help looking after the kids while she ate something. Now it was time for the afternoon art class. She fervently hoped not to run into that pesky so-called handsome man again. Hopefully, the kids gave him a hard time, and he had already left.
Maybe she won't find him sulking around the corner after all.
With a positive thought, she entered her classroom only to find an outrageous scene in front of her.
"What the h -," Refraining from cussing, she reminded herself of the place she was in.
Act civilized.
Her mind kept on chanting the two words. Closing her eyes, she took in a deep breath before voicing out.
"What on Earth is going on?"
In front of her, a boy and girl were standing in a little too friendly position. He was holding her waist while she had lifted her arms sideways. It seemed like they were mimicking her infuriating partners' instructions. Quickly taking action, Ahana approached them and separated the two with a swift push.
To her dismay, she felt like an antagonist for prying apart what looked to be two lovers. However, she reminded herself that they were just children.
"What were you thinking?" She stormed up to him, jabbing her finger into his chest with accusation in her voice.
Vivaan was taken aback. He realized he had gone too far. He had intended to provoke her, but not like this. He hadn't anticipated her strong reaction. His mind raced with possible solutions, none of which included confessing the truth - that it was all a setup to get under her skin because should she find out, she would make sure it would be the last thing he ever did.
Without further thinking, he answered smoothly and thoughtfully. "I was teaching them ball dance."
"A ball dance?" Ahana stared at him blankly before her face turned from sour to incredulous.
She believed she was overprotective when it came to little kids. The same kids who currently watched them with acute curiousness bubbling inside them as they stared at them with big eyes, taking in every moment.
"Are you stupid?" She asked.
Pushing himself backward haphazardly at her sudden movement, he raised his hand in surrender. Why did he move back? He was supposed to face her midway. He couldn't bring himself to answer that. "What's wrong with dancing?"
