Not long ago, I received an emergency call from Astra at 6 in the morning. Immediately I answered, feeling something was off. Her tone was different, I can tell even through the opposite end she was anything but happy. Rushing out of the front door and opening my car door, I slammed it closed.

Hurriedly I turn on the engine and reverse the car, out of the large garage. Speeding through the road, it's still pretty dark outside, I didn't bother to turn on the headlights, I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried about her.

By the time I arrived at the cafe that she asked me to come to, I spotted her near the window, her eyes rested below, looking at the wooden floor and her phone resting on her thigh.

I parked the car next to the empty sidewalk and got out. Calming myself down I took a deep breath.

She immediately turned her head around by the sound of the bell ringing on top of the wooden door. I noticed her smiling. I'm glad we're the only ones in this cafe right now because if anyone else was here and they'd see her smile, they would've fallen for her quickly, just like I did.

Walking toward Astra, she moved over a little bit to the left on the booth chair, telling me to sit next to her. I sat down and she slid a plate of freshly baked golden bread slices with jam and butter on top, over to me. Shaking my head, I refused and gestured for her to eat it instead.

It took her almost immediately to start talking after finishing her coffee. "Someone broke into my house." That was the first thing she said since we met today.

I looked at her confused. "Someone broke into your house?" I repeated. She nodded and slowly looked at me with saddened eyes.

"I was scared, I-I kept pretending to be asleep and hoping I would forget it. But I didn't think that man was that scary, I didn't see his face but I can tell." She paused and took in a very deep breath before continuing. "I was so scared he might come back, I-I didn't even get to sleep." she stuttered between words.

Her chest rising and falling heavily, her forehead is sweaty even in such cold rainy weather. Something in my chest pinched, and it hurts.

Looking at Astra's face, the expression she's making, I can tell she's trying her hardest to hold back her tears. I pulled her arm towards me and hugged her, placing my hand behind her waist. Resting my chin on her head as she leaned her head against my neck.

"You'll be okay." I assured, hearing her heart pounding in her chest. Her heartbeat began to slow down a bit. I continued to comfort her while still holding her body in my arms.

I felt Astra's lips parted against my neck. "Can I stay at your place for a couple of days?" she pulled away and looked at me. I paused for a bit before answering. "I'm sorry you can't, I live with other people, it'd be weird if you're the only human there." It hurts me to say "no" to Astra when she's sad like this. "How about I stay over at your place."
