~Thwok~

Two days. It had been two days since Kay fainted, and the two was close to bordering three. I sat in the chair next to the bed Kay was laying in, hoping to Galvana that she would be alright. Twisting my tongue and tapping my foot, I watched as the morning light bled through the available window. I could remember what had happened perfectly, exactly as it happened.

The moment Kay hit the ground, the skyship started to steer downwards towards the ocean. I gripped the edge of the ship in a panic, calling out to Kay. Using the edges as a guide, Bona had made his way to the wheel of the ship and grabbed on to it. With a hard yank he pulled the wheel up, steadying the skyship and saving us from the potential tragedy.

"Take Kay to the lower deck," Bona had told me. "Get her in a bed. She can't be up here."

And so I had left Bona and Petite to mon the ship while I carried Kay to one of the spare rooms. She wasn't as heavy as I had thought she would be, thankfully, so I was able to move her around with ease. I set her down on a bed, making sure that she was comfortable, before pulling up a chair and waiting patiently for her to wake back up. It had only took a few hours the first time, so I was under the assumption that it would take the same amount of time for her to wake up.

But as minutes turned into hours turned into days, my anxiety started to skyrocket. My thoughts raced as Kay laid still, motionless. What if Kay hit her head too hard on the wood? Will she wake up? What if she doesn't? What would we even do? The questions overwhelmed me to a point where I couldn't sleep, constantly in fear of the worst possible scenario.

As the morning sun of day three rose, I could finally hear a noise that wasn't from me or the ship: light shuffling. Quickly I turned my head, a part of me hoping that it was what I thought it was. I could feel my metal heart beat out of my chest as the blankets shifted and a figure sat up on the bed beside me. The golden brown eyes were locked with mine, and I couldn't help but to smile a bit.

      "Th-Thwok?"

"Kay, youh're awahke!" I turned and faced Kay fully, watching as she held her head. She looked around, confused.

      "Where am I?"

"In one ohf the spahre wooms. Ohn the skyshihp."

"On the...skyship? Wait, what happened?" She started to panic, but I went over and held her hands to calm her down.

"You faihntehd...agaihn. Ona is hehlping geht us to Cohld Island."

"Then let's go." Kay got up quickly, a bit too quickly, before stumbling and sitting back down on the bed. I sat next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Leht's...welax, insteahd," I suggested. Kay nodded, winded from what happened a moment before. She rested her head against my chest, weary, and I allowed her to do so.

      "How are you doing, Thwok?"

"Othuh thahn the cohncehrn wegahding youhr heahlth, I'm fhine." I thought for a moment, studying Kay. "Thihs is the sehcond time thaht thihs has hahpened. Do you knowh whaht's gohing ohn, whaht's cauhsing this?"

      "I...no, I don't know."

"Whell, mahybe we cahn fihguh this ouht togehthuh." I grabbed my bag from beside the chair I was sitting in moments prior and looked through it, pulling out a specific book that I thought would be of use.

      "A book on different illnesses?"

"Wihttehn by an apohthecahwy," I explained. "Awlwahys goht to be pwepahed." Kay giggled a little bit as I flipped through the pages.
