Furious at being man handled I lashed out like I never had before, biting into anything I could reach, kicking and literally snarling.
My skin felt on fire, my joints ached, and I could hear the rush of blood pounding in my ears. Suddenly I was in a world of pain. My bones snapped and grated against one another, my vision clouded and narrowed. Panting, moaning, screaming in a voice that steadily got deeper and less human.
I had no clue how long it all took but when I finally became aware of anything more then pain, I realised that I was outside. I was shivering in the snow under a clear, star riddled sky. I wasn't cold though.
Scattered over the snow was what was left of a pair of jeans and a white sweater.
I began to hyperventilate.
"Easy Kara..." soothed a voice to my right, causing me to jump. Without thought my lips pulled back and I felt my chest vibrate in accompaniment to the sound of an animal growling. "Easy..."
I saw that who had spoken to me was Max, crouched in the snow, one handheld out but not touching. It took me a moment, but I eventually realised that his white shirt and grey-blue jacket was torn and bloody.
Had I done that?
Still shivering I looked around, making sure Maxwell was still at the corner of my vision. Madix stood next to his son, tall and imposing but a look of calm on his face rather than reproach. He too was visible torn up and disheveled.
Royce was there, just a few feet away near a wooden porch. He was not ripped up, but he did look on edge. Just behind him stood a pale and shaky Seth whose hand rested on the railing of the porch. Then behind them, on the deck, were four women, all human, looking worried and -the youngest three- terrified.
What...
"Kara." Boomed a man's voice. Its tone was gentle but commanding.
I centered my focus back to 5he two ripped up men. Madix strode past his son and stood a couple feet over me. At first, I found that odd given I could clearly deal I was couched nearly on my belly.
It was only then that that position struck me as odd. My ears twitched and- Oh God! Something went between my legs! I yelped and spun around, snapping at who ever had grabbed me. Only know one was there...
"Kara." Growled Madix. "Look at me."
Terrified, I turned and met the alpha's eyes. I did not look away. He came right up to me and a hand snake out and grabbed my jaw. I growled. 2itch was odd because I wanted to tell him off, but no words came out.
"Easy." He said gently. I felt I was hearing 5hat word a little too much recently. "Its alright..." he nearly whispered, his other hand coming around and stroking my ear. I shivered, realizing finally that my body was no longer the shape it had been. "You shifted. It happens to young wolves unable to control the urge yet. You are okay. You didn't hurt anyone. And we got you outside before you could destroy Beth's dining room." He added with a smirk directed to the deck now behind me.
I whimmpered shamefully and sunk fully to the snow. I lost control... would they have to kill me now? The air filled with an acrid scent.
"Oh Kara, don't be afraid." Crooned Seth at my rear.
"Its okay. It's normal." Assured Madix, his big hand massaging my neck. "You will learn to recognize emotional triggers and fight the need to shift. Don't worry." Madix pulled his hands away and took one step back.
"Now, look at yourself!" he laughed, eyes twinkling. "You do make a pretty wolf."
I blinked once in surprise before looking down at the fur of my paws then around my back. Despite my usual chocolate brown hair, my fur was a creamy yellow colour that darkens to a light brown along my back and paws and lightened to white under my belly and the underside of my tail.
