Mavis's POV

I have been in love with my best friend Austin for eight years. Now I know what you may be thinking, 'You should probably make a move on him', and I'm probably right but, he's had a girlfriend for the past eight years that I've known him. Her name is Heather and she's the most beautiful, smartest and kindest woman out there. I think their made for each other but that's just me. They bounce off each other and they can talk for hours, well, that's what I've heard. I tried not to be with the two of them together because I am very bad at hiding when I'm upset or jealous but over the years I have seen them together and boy has it been rough. Today my friend Ireland is have a party to celebrate her birthday, which is fun except for the fact that I knew Austin and Heather will be there. I may think that over time I've gotten better at hiding any emotion but I'd be wrong. I'm wearing a red dress, it's one of my favorites. I have some make up on but not too much and my friend Ravin is driving me there. I get in her car and we spark up a conversation on the way to Ireland's house. Once we got there we walked inside and immediately I locked eyes with the blue eyes I fell in love with all those years ago. Austin slowly makes his way over to me. "Hey Mavis" he says with that signature smile. 'God I just wanna-'  "hey" I respond cutting myself off. "how have you been?" he asked, looking as if he genuinely cares. "great" I said, lying, "how about you" I asked. Before he could answer a pair of tanned arms wrap around his shoulders "hi babe" Heather says just loud enough for me to hear "hi baby" Austin responds, looking at her like he really loves her, ouch.. "I'm gonna grab a drink" I said quickly finding my way past them and into the kitchen. The kitchen was filled with people I've never seen but I did see Ireland, my friend. She's the only one who knows about my thing for Austin. "how've you been?" she asks while grabbing me a cup and filling it with blood and monster, "honestly? Horrible" I said shouting over the loud music now blasting in the room. "it'll pass" she says handing me the cup "you have to move on" I look down at my feet. "I know, sometimes" I sigh, splitting up my sentence "sometimes I feel like there's something but it fades away to nothing in point black seconds, he's always on my mind I mean it's exhausting" I shout, I bring my eyes to Ireland who is now dancing with some random people in the living room. Ireland came back and handed me a pill, "to make you feel better" she said laughing. I take it, thinking it's some head medicine but I was wrong. I got hungry so I began to eat some food and I spoked to some random boys about my problems while the world melts around me, then tears start, oh god. No, no, no, no ,no. Not here, not now. I run up the stairs and race up them quickly. I open the guest room door with tears briskly running down my cheeks. I met with the sight of Heather making out with Austin. I screamed at the sight and they both turn quickly and looked at me "Mavis?" Austin says confused, Heather looks furious. "oh my god I'm so sorry" I said and ran to the bathroom and locked myself in there. I slide down to the floor and buried my head in tears. After a few minutes I stand up and looked in the mirror and I didn't see myself, I saw some kind of monster whose being tortured by one secret. Knock "Mavis? Mavis are you in there?" I hear Austin ask from the other side of the door. "go away" is all I managed to say. "you said everything was great and now you're crying in a bathroom, what's wrong? You know you can talk to me" he said, I couldn't talk to him, but I had to. I unlocked the door and watched his eyes look up and down at me examining my state. "Mavis are you high-" he asked but I cut him off, "before you say anything more I need to tell you something" I take a deep breath and closed my eyes, "I have loved you for eight years and I want you to be happy and if that means you're with Heather then that's perfectly fine and if that means you don't want to be friends with me anymore than I don't care!" I throw my arms up "I have never stopped loving you and I'll never stop, no more secrets, I've been miserable because I heard that you want to marry Heather but you know what? You go do that. Since there is no more secrets let me just say that I am very high right now but that does not change a word I've said" I watched as he took in every word I said and then I left and went home, expecting nothing. When I heard a knock and found him at my door it's safe to say I was surprised. "you still high" he asked, it has been a long time since the party ended and the drugs worn off. "no" I said staring daggers at him. "I need to tell you something" Austin said. I let him in and as I closed the door he pulled me into a love filled kiss. "you have a lot of explaining to do" I said as we pulled away.
