Austin's POV

I rolled over and expected to feel Mavis beside me but I was met with an empty spot which confused me as I sat up and rubbed my eyes before looking up at the clock seeing it was 1:30 am which confused me because she wasn't with me. I climbed out of bed and went to search for her and I eventually found her crying on the couch as she flipped through a photo album most likely of her mom and dad. She lost her mom in February of this year and her dad died when she was two it was hitting her hard even five months later, I went through the same thing a couple of years before I was glad I could be here for her during these time. I took a seat next to her on the couch wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close to me.

"I miss them." She said quietly.

"I know you do baby, I also know that they miss you as well." I said rubbing my hand up and down her arm.

"It doesn't feel right that they aren't here, you know? It feels like a dream well a nightmare more like it." She said.

"Trust me baby I know how you feel, after I lost my mom I kept praying for someone to wake me up from the nightmare I was living because it didn't feel real that she wasn't here anymore. Like I kept hoping I would wake up and she would be here." I said looking at her sadly.

"I'm sorry if this is too much for you." She said squeezing my hand.

"No hey look at me, this isn't too much for me even if it was you needing someone to be here for you during this time and I'm more then happy to do so. I love you baby and I want to help you during this unfortunate period in your life, I can't bring your parents back even though I wish I could but I can be here for you and help you navigate this time like I wish I had." I said looking in her eyes.

"I love you too. Thank you so much for being here for me, it means a lot to me." She said to me as a few final tears leaked down her face.

"You don't need to thank me, sweetheart, I'm gonna be here for you as long as you want me to be here and even if you don't want me to be, I still will be because I care about you that much, I love you." I said placing a kiss on her lips.

"I love you too, I'm sorry for waking you up." She said as we pull away.

"No need to apologize, baby, I just rolled over and expected to feel you there and got worried when I didn't. I don't like you crying alone, so I want you to promise me that next time you feel like this that you'll wake me up, so I can be there for you." I said.

"But..." She started to say.

"But nothing baby, promise me now." I said as she sighed.

"I promise." She said giving me a small smile before breaking out into a yawn.

"Thank you, now come on let's go and try to get some rest sleepyhead." I said standing up and then helping her up off the couch.

The two of us made our way back to our room and I climbed in first and then opened my arms wide motioning for her to climb into bed which she happily did. Once she did, I pressed a kiss to her forehead and kept holding her tightly in my arms as we drifted asleep to the sound of my heartbeat.

"I love you baby." She said quietly.

"I love you more sweetheart." I said with a smile as I pressed a kiss against her forehead.
